No arguments from me, just let me ask you one question... Would you allow someone to harm your wife, kids, yourself without at least trying to protect them with whatever means necessary? If you answer yes, well... you're just not a gun person. To be 100% honest, I rarely carry my gun with me on drives, BUT I value having the option to carry if I choose to.
I can't think of a situation wherin it would warrant carrying a gun either in my home or in my car. Even a potential carjacking wouldn't force me to carry a weapon for fear of a shootout, in turn injuring/killing my family, or me for that matter! I live in a fairly large city with approx 7m peeps...there are certainly dodgy areas, I just don't frequent them.

In any event, your choice, not mine. I was simply curious what situation(s) might cause you to carry a weapon.
Damn dude I hope your family, if any, doesn't see this. Just thinking about how you wouldn't protect your family from possible danger is pretty disturbing. Thank God I live in FL and the 2A is protected here fully. Don't always carry even though I have a carry license, but knowing that I can and also having another firearm at home is definitely peace of mind. Hopefully I'll never have to use it, but if I do, I'll be ready trust me.

I in fact did show this to my wife...she agrees wholeheartedly. If someone holds me at gunpoint and I pull out a gun, what do you think the outcome will be? Either way, gun or no gun if a gun is pointed at me I'm not going to further any potential violence. Luckily I don't live in the U.S.

As for "not protecting my family"....well, you leave that to me.

Thank god I live in a country where it's not a free for all...again, my opinion naturally.

You do what you need to do I suppose.

EDIT: btw, given where I live, it's a moot point anyway:

Handguns can't be carried out of the home, either concealed or openly, except with a specific license, which is usually only given to people who need guns for work. Licenses require training in gun safety and an extensive background check. Guns have to be kept locked and unloaded.

The point of having a firearm is avoiding being at gunpoint or knifepoint or in a potential life harming situation. Unless you live in a fortified castle with security protecting you at all times than maybe you are exempt from this.

Few years ago I was in Canada, New Brunswick, and I was chatting with my customer. I noted how few police cars I've seen. He laughed and gave me a very blunt reason why.

It only takes a few minutes of research on the FBI's crime data website to understand the issue facing the United States today.

Hint: it has nothing to do with law abiding citizens exercising the right to protect themselves.

As we contine to defund police and normalize violent behavior; the issue will only continue to be emboldend and some how entitled.

In the meantime, carry well and carry often. Be safe.

Great thread!! I have lived in nyc since I was 4. Before that I lived in sarajevo bosnia. For those familiar we were invaded by our neighbors and their intentions were to ethnically cleanse us because of who we were. No compliance, pleading or begging stopped them from killing. But my fathers AK did. If you are not a fan of weapons, that's fine. But there is no one that can convince me that a gun is not necessary. You will never know what situation you will be faced with. Yes the chance of that is very very low. Being in nyc my whole life I have had a few instances when I would of loved to have one. One of which was when a 12 year old pulled a gun on me at a park to rob everyone there. They took a bunch of book bags and ran off. I would have willingly given him the asphalt temperature challenge. But I was 16 and obviously nyc is a shit hole. Only bad guys get guns in nyc.

Don't get me wrong I love New York and being a refugee who was forced from his home. I would never leave my current home unless forced.

That's awesome - I'm glad you had a way to fight back!

But hopefully this won't turn into an AK vs. AR thread

Lol..nice one. All gang related btw

EDIT: as noted in a previous post (see below), so only the 'bad guys' are shooting each other. None of those 46 homicides were of random victims.

Handguns can't be carried out of the home, either concealed or openly, except with a specific license, which is usually only given to people who need guns for work. Licenses require training in gun safety and an extensive background check. Guns have to be kept locked and unloaded.

Yep, 100 % gang related. All mental health issues were from the MHG. (Mental Health Gang….Southside). No innocents involved. All should have been killed, period.

That is tyrannical. I’m not familiar with Canadian law/constitution... but unfortunately for you guys.... your founders screwed you guys. Or... you had years of terrible politicians STRIPE away your RIGHTS. IF YOU really do live in city with “millions” of people... you have lots of criminals with weapons.

Im a former LEO... worked in Palm Beach county Florida for almost a decade.... and dealt with a lot of victims. My advice was....” get a dog...home alarm system...and a least 2 handguns”.

I, like the vast majority of Canadians are very glad our country is not like the U.S. Our rights were never "stripped away" as you say. It's always been this way.

Happy for you & good hunting.

I know quite a few Canadians. Thankfully they do not all feel like you. Most of them enjoyed working and staying in the USA.
