Either that or they just have rolled anything out for the US yet. We're all just speculating at this point. I will ask the service department when I bring my car in next week for its 1 year appointment. Otherwise, I guess we in the US just wait and see.

Mine's a 12/19 build. If I need my engine replaced, this will be my first and last BMW. They CANNOT get their act together with S engines and it's frustrating.

Unless they expand the recall you should be good since you were manufactured after the recall date.

They used to say don't buy a car the first year of production. Guess it is still true. Although surprising for a BMW.

They're still producing S55s with the same crank hub that's known to spin. And that motor came out in 2015.

Apples to oranges. You are comparing a design flaw with a manufacturing error on a small amount of engines.

You can contact your dealer or login to your ConnectedDrive account and check the recall option (input your VIN #)

That would be my assumption (I've been checking from time to time).

Ultimately the dealer might contact you or you would receive something in the post

Just checked with my dealer (UK). They say the Crank Case and Connecting Rod issues only affected a small subset of cars built within the rather wide build window and that my car wasn't affected. If true, I guess that's why so few people have heard anything about this.

Wonder what was wrong with the crank case design....

I remember mine had a crank case code (hasn't come back yet) but it's a 12/19 build.

I just had a buddy at dealer run my vin. Not included in this SIB. Must be a small batch of vins and not the whole run.🤪

Mine was a 11/2020 build. So I called my SA today and he looked up my VIN. Thankfully my car did not fall into this relatively small batch of cars that were affected.

Just curious though, how are people the exact build date of their motors... ? (I'm assuming). All I can find is the month & year DOB sticker on the driver's door jam.
