Were you notified of an issue or did you bring it in because you noticed a problem?

No problems noticed at all. I ran the vin through the BMW UK recall site, so called the dealer who confirmed it was affected.

Gesh, that's not what I want to hear. If mine is affected, I'm going to keep driving it until it explodes.

Subscribing. I have a Jan 2020 build. But maybe they'll decide mine was affected as well. Hope they quickly remedy the issue & isolate who was affected by this with precision...

I just wrote an email to my dealer asking if my X3MC is affacted. They confirmed it but told me that currently the repair ist not yet due. But they made a note, that my could get e repair or new engine.

Would you go for a tune? If the engine blows up ... Could I refer to that recall and get the repair on warranty?

My car is a 07/2019 production date, talked today with my dealer. Pretty sure I'll get an engine replacement. I bought the car from him, as it was his personal car, and only have it for 2 months.

Forgot to say, on vin recall checker I get 2 different codes for intervention.

Go drive your car and enjoy it. A recall is not within your control so why even bother worrying about it...

If you car is part of the list BMW will get in contact with you if and when required.

No issues here with a 10/19 build date. My dealer checked the system and sent back a screen shot showing no open campaigns.

I wonder why I have a different code as mine is in for the con-rod issue?
D'oh! Sorry just read above and realised your code is for a DME update.

Is this something that's affecting a production stretch of European vehicles only? When I took my 2020 that was built in this date range in for December service the service never even heard of this or had been notified that this may be an issue for some affected vehicles.

Don't know, the original poster is from Texas, so may be global. Only seems to be impacting small set of VINs within the date ranges.

Just so there is no confusion, I am the original poster and was notified of this through UK facebook page.

It very well could be UK only, I just wanted to give the heads up in the case that it is global. I was under the impression all of our cars were built in the same factory regardless of where in the world. (I could be wrong here)

Thanks
