Mine sounds like that a bit - Doesnt sound big end, more like small end. But if it were, it would have went pop by now as its been like that since i can remember....and been bounced of the rev limiter a few times

Diesels make valvetrain noise not bottom end noise. The reality is that most people are simply hearing ticking of the DI injectors. Trust me you will know when you have rod knock.

I'm in that range as well, but it does say limit d number actually affected...time will tell. Maybe I'll get the fading rear spoiler done at the same time, save me an extra dealer trip.

I just spoke to my SA and they have 2 vehicles affected only. My VIN is not in the list.
All clear... seems like very few vehicles affected.

Really? I have 10k miles on mine with a little over 6 months of ownership and the car has been solid! Not a single issue so far.

I haven't had a single issue in a year of ownership but it seems like a few owners have had paint issues. I have an oil change service booked for 12/01 so hopefully I'm the clear as the idea of having the bottom end replaced doesn't excite me at all seeing few dealership mechanics have likely done anything like this on this engine given its age and low volume.

Most people will see that their X3M was made during the date range as it's most of the entire production run since launch.
Weirdly though if it's a batch issue that batch is spread out through 17 months of builds.

Is it possible they have multiple vendors for bearings and the issue has been isolated to a single vendor?

You wouldn't want too many different suppliers for one part as that is asking for trouble. They have batch serial numbers and know actually what went where and when, with just in time delivery as part of the process it seems weird that the issue seems to involve the entire product run unless the supplier fed in the affected batch over that whole period piecemeal (but why would they do that?) unless you had a secondary supplier infilling the main supplier that might make sense. Just spit balling it of course.

I checked with my SA and based on my VIN I'm not affected right now. Just give your dealership a call. Of course my status could change so i plan to check in on it

Is this even a thing? When mine was in for service in December there was nothing outstanding for this and the service department wasn't even aware of this recall.
