Is the S58-1 (in the X3M) that much different than the S58-2 (G80 M3)?

Got me thinking after watching this video for the M3/M4 (below). He talks about the engine at 7:02 and how "this is our new engine, some of you may say you already know this engine from the x3m, they share some components but the crankshaft is lighter". Turbo chargers apparently are different too.

"more important factor, this one is scheduled to run in race cars such as the new M4 GT3" "Thats what this engine is actually built for". "True race car engine"

That video is from 2021, pre-LCI X3/X4M. The engines should be carried over now and identical apart from tuning/numbers.

So there is a drastic difference in preLCI x3m vs lci X3M for how the engine is configured?

Connecting rods seem to be the same part, # 11248092858

Lighter crankshaft and 3D Printed Cylinder heads (lighter as well)

30 extra lb-ft of torque compared to the pre-LCI X3M

as far as i understand the later model x3/4m before LCI bascially 2021 models have "gen2". all the S58 cylinder heads are 3d printed or the casting molds are 3d printed. Something along those lines.

that may pertain the pre-lci, but the LCI (MY22 and newer) does have the lighter crankshaft from the G8x M3/M4 and a slight retune with a bump up in torque. i believe the turbos are slightly different (inlet is slightly larger in the G8x as oppose to the F97, but dont quote me on that).

but lets be honest, the changes in engine+tune between the pre-lci and lci is pretty minimal.

This is correct. The turbo inlet is in fact larger on the g8x than on the x3/x4m. Retrofitted my front mounts and the inlet is a bit longer.

is the actual inlet on the compressor housing larger or is it just the inlet pipes?

interesting to know they did that on the G8x.

Just to compare the turbo inlet size and if it makes more power if the size differs
