The darker look is more aesthetically pleasing for sure. The more I look at them, the more I also want to do this to mine

I still say I like the look of my 2021 better than the LCI, but on my Dark Graphite, these would look good.

Are these Shadowline LCI lights or just regular LCI lights? Thanks.

Can you tell me what the difference between the 2 are? That way I'll be able to confirm which ones I have. I didn't know there were differences in the lci tail lights

If I'm not mistaken shadowline cars get shadowline headlights and tail lights. The tail lights would be just slightly darker. I could be wrong though. As I've only seen 4 part numbers for the tail lights. I just double checked ETK and it doesn't give a difference for the rear lights based on shadowline package. Maybe it's just the headlights then.

Maybe someone else can chime in if they know if shadowline tail lights are a thing. Kind of like on the F30 tail lights/headlights as well.

That would suck if there are differences, but just checked in the aos and i'm not seeing any difference called out based on the shadowline, non-shadowline trims.

I don't believe there is a difference. Just euro spec and US spec. Shadow line option should only darken the headlights, tail lights are identical from what Ive seen

Have my parts guy standby to order this set.

Just curious, the rewiring didn't come close to what this post showed?

Here's a comparison of the stock pre lci wiring and what the lci wiring is. The only difference is the inner tail lights for the pre lci has 1 extra wire. I used another forum members thread diy to wire the inner trunk lights and it worked perfectly even with the extra wire. Wire your pre lci lights to match the lci wiring and you will be good.

The tricky part is finding a way to remove the wires from the connectors, I was able to use a push pin to free the wires from the connectors. It can be tricky but once you realize where the release point is for the wire to come out, you shouldn't have issues.

Regarding the euro-spec tail lights, am I understanding the other thread correctly that they have amber turn signals, or amber lights in them in some fashion, which causes the problem for US spec vehicles? And the part numbers in the OP do not? If its a simple pin swap on the plugs for these, I am going to order a set for my 2021, but that other thread made me rethink doing it.

That is correct. The only difference I know of is the amber lights in the euro spec. The US spec is red. The part #s I posted are for the US spec and I was able to wire them to my 2019 x3 m40i with no issues and no coding required.

I think the LCI lights will be perfect install just swap one pin. Euro needs a new wire from BDC if I'm not mistaken

I'm going to go through what i can learn from the tis on removing and putting on these tail lights, to get the steps at least somewhat familiar in my head. I'm bit odd with ocd symptoms, so i like to at least be little prepared for any pending doom/surprises...

One question though, from quick check in tis is (haven't yet looked closer at the car to confirm), the two tail lights that are mounted on the tailgate, does the (entire) tailgate trim panel(s) need to come off?

Looks like the tail lights at the side panels, as already stated, removing and putting them on is more straight forward.

Yes the entire tail gate panel comes off. Once you remove the two small covers (they slide out) from the large tail gate panel, there is a screw behind each cover that needs to be removed. Once they're removed just pull the entire panel off. It is so simple to pull off and pop back on. You will have 2 connectors that will need to be disconnected when the panel is pulled. Believe they're for the trunk latch, and open/lock buttons on trunk. Very simple and straight forward when you see it.
