Anyone point out the fuse for for the Emergency call system, front or rear fuse box?

I dropped mine off at the dealer this morning. Along with the Emergency Call System Malfunction I notice my factory Nav is also gone bonkers - it doesn't know where I am and a lot of the details on the map are gone.

I use Waze w/ Car Play, but the issues seem to be connected. Ironically, the warning popped up last week as I was driving home from my 3-yr annual service at the dealer. In fairness though, it's unlikely an oil change and brake fluid flush did anything that could cause this issue.

Update:

They say they need to replace the TCU, which is on backorder and has to come from Germany. It's supposed to take about two weeks ... and I got the vehicle back, of course, since "it's safe to drive". I just have to tolerate that message in the dash.

dropped mine at the dealer today.
I mentioned I read it might be a water leak and was told - "water leak will not be covered under warrantee".
WHAT! I started to go off, but then held back until we know what my issue is.

Did they also check for water intrusion at the shark fin? The antenna seems faulty too now.

My update......
Dealer checked for water because it was repaired a month ago - found a small leak around the epoxy. Told it WILL be covered under warrantee because it was found "the antenna was not properly sealed". New antenna and sealant should be done by next Wed. ( dropped car off on Thursdays). BUT new TCU needs to come from Germany, told 1-2 months wait. They want the loaner back when the antenna is replace and then come back when the TCU comes in.

I HATE, HATE driving the car without a working mic

Updating - the part from Germany has arrived (took 3 weeks) - I'll be dropping it off Tuesday morning for what they say should be a one day job.

Interesting to see they replaced the battery. On my first TCU replacement they swapped the battery not replacing it.

Tomorrow makes 4 weeks I am waiting for the TCU from germany - I was told it could take 2 months

I've been waiting 6 weeks here and still no ETA. Connected Drive has been completely inoperable since Feb 12. I wish I were able to clear the message on the gauge cluster with the BC button. I'm leaving for a road trip soon and not being able to see the odometer or trip meter is going to be quite annoying.

Got mine in 7 weeks.

Also when the Odometer is jammed with the message you can't reset oil or brake warnings.

I am sure you know you can get the odometer reading via the "my BMW" app.

Parts availability !!

Hi - 1st post here - love my M40i !!

I'm in a similar position - had Emergency Call System malfunction error message, car in garage for 2 days. Got it back late on a Friday (I think hurriedly put back together as needed it for the weekend)

Didn't really pay attention as local driving/SatNav not used. Come the Monday - found same 2nd issue as others - SatNav misreporting location etc (had me driving in the River Thames for about 10 miles ....

Maybe the wires left unconnected/bits not properly reinstalled/speaker scuttle fell off - had something to do with it .....

Roof Lining and Wires hanging loose

Speaker cover fell off

Booked it back in .... to be told now needs further parts/not safe to drive/parts on order. That was 4 weeks ago - and every week parts order keeps getting pushed back.

Currently in a Volvo XC40 D3 from Enterprise car rental that BMW Uk are paying for - if you/I were to rent it's £850.00 a week, had it for a month so far !!

When my TCU was first replaced (before backordered) it was sporadically misrepresenting location before it quit and gave the "malfunction". Second replacement they tested and found leak at the shark fin and replaced the antenna.

Sounds to me with enough failing TCU's there should be a recall to address the failing epoxy.

You dont need to remove the whole headliner. You can drop it from the back and get to the battery, need to take the side panels off first though. Its about 2-2.5hrs work.
The battery only has a four year life and will start flagging up fault codes to say TCU battery near end of life if you put a diagnostics machine on the car.

In my case - the car is now sat @ the dealerships with the headliner hanging down/Shark fin removed and a plastic sheet taped over the hole in the roof ......

Correct, they we're unable to clear the brake fluid warning after flushing it. In my case, ConnectedDrive us inop so MyBMW isn't able to get any data from the X3 either.

Well, 12 weeks after the initial fault I am back in business. Faults are cleared and connected drive is working again. As others have reported, the source was a corroded telematics module under the shark fin. They replaced the module, antenna and battery. The antenna had to be painted to match and resealed on the roof. I hope this is a permanent fix.

Mine didn't get a new battery

Dealer sent mine out to local bodyshop for paint and epoxy. Service adviser hinted that they are using different epoxy for seal than original factory, but no confirmation.

I don't know your specific situation, but if anything like others with RC at the shark fin antenna water leaks, then battery "should be" replaced,

Not mine and I tried arguing but was told they are following procedures and battery is not testing bad

Mine was replaced twice. First time they did not know of water leak.

They swapped over the original battery both times.
