I'm not sure if I'm looking at the right place.

Thanks
I actually wired a dashcam using Fuse 47 in the Front Fuse Box.

Did you take off the plastic cover below the glove box? Need to turn two little knobs on each side and it will slide off. Fuse box is up in the right. May need to pull the upholstery a little to access it.

Yep. I took off the plastic cover underneath the glove box by unscrewing the 2 screws. but I just don't see it.

Your car is a right hand drive? The fuse box may be on the left side.
Here is what you are looking for (though this is from a left hand drive X3)
The plastic cover retaining screw

and the fuse 'box'

Front Fuse Box Removal

Hello,

Was anyone successful in removing the front foot-well fuse box? I can undo the front of it but can't figure out what is holding it in the back near the firewall.

After loosening the two thumb screws near the front, there really isn't anything else other than to slide it toward you (pull) but the ambient lighting fixture will need to be dislodged. It is connected at two points before into the light itself. Just pull them off and disconnect the light and that should be it.

I'm referring to the actual fuse box which has fuses attached to it. I think you are referring to the plastic cover.

Wow, while that is a nice video, it way over complicates the hard wire install of a dashcam in the X3. You do not need to do all of that disassembly of the glove box etc.

I published my install earlier on our forum. The write-up is a step-by-step description of the install with pictures, and is a preliminary to a comparative analysis of the image quality to other dash cams. It can be found at https://insight.daumphotography.com/?p=989

Agreed - WAY Too much disassembly..........

But a bigger notice..... the video starts off by saying to disconnect the battery first for safety... (showing the positive terminal as opposed to the negative).... but then once the power cables are connected to the camera, it powers on ???

Definitely agree that it's way over-complicated and unnecessary to disassemble glove box and dashboard! It's also unnecessary to disconnect battery if you follow the instructions in the various write-ups including mine of front and rear Thinkware install (here: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1586658)

Nice write-up JDsX3! Far more detailed and professional looking than mine! ;-)

Appreciate that MattXYZ, but both ways get the job done.

Apologies for reviving an old thread.
I tried to hardwire my dashcam using Fuse 46 however, my dashcam turns off when the vehicle engages auto-stop at a red light. Anyone have this problem?
