Hey guys. I got my gloss black grills and side vents and I cannot get the side "boomerang" piece off. Has anyone swapped these? I know most of you got the comp package so most already have black. Whenever I try to pry the piece off, the base piece is peeling off with the adhesive which I don't want to remove. Any tricks to this? I'm worried I'm going to scratch the car if I force it.

You need to remove the adhesive on the original “boomerang”. With luck most of the adhesive will stick to the original. Heat helps but not too much heat. Fishing line behind the original can be used to “saw” the boomerang adhesive. What’s left stuck to the paint needs to be cleaned using something like goo-gone. The replacement should already have the 3M adhesive on the back. If not. You’ll need to add it.

According to the IND video I shouldn't have to but it's seriously impossible.

Ah, OK. I thought you were trying to swap out the whole piece. I have not tried to remove just that piece on my 22 MC. I honestly did not know that was a separate part. My experience was putting X3 M-like vents on my former 22 M40i. The small M40i vents were simply removed with a plastic trim tool and it popped right out.

I also followed the same video and able to replace it without any problem. Try to start from the top first. There is a small piece of adhesive at the bottom.

Same. The entire piece kept lifting. Will try again today.

Where did you get the gloss black trim pieces from? I'm assuming from IND?
