Hey all,

Just about to do the finance part of the M40i. I'm told the GFV values are about 24.5 (option dependent|) and the BMW finance APR is pretty stuck at 5.9%. Anyone done any better than that on either part of the equation?

Looked at my banks PCP standalone product, APR was good and low but GFV was way down which completely offsetted the benefit.

Any tips?

If we're talking about a 48 month PCP, this sounds pretty consistent with other deals I know, including my own (my GFV was £24,344). They won't move on the APR, but the deal works out ok because the GFV BMW offering is pretty high compared to what you'll get elsewhere.

Just saw this review (click) @ 14:48 min.

No gas strut in the boot to hold the floor board? Thats cheap. Looks like the x2. In all the other X3 reviews the cars had this? Can anyone check their European X3?

if I'm not mistaken, the strut is part of the storage compartment pack (or whatever the name is).

I ordered mine at the same time. But the dealer I used already had a built slot allocated - so mine was built in early January.

Did you order through a dealer or broker?

From a main dealer. Looks like min was built last week in Jan. It's been showing at the port for 4 weeks. With a "campaign hold" status. Nobody seems to know what that means!

Sounds great! I can't wait. Swapping from my F80 M3 which is great.....unless it's cold, wet, bad road surface, you're tired etc. Think the M40 will be a great balance. Quality seemed so much better too in the new X3's I've sat in.

I imagine it is the same story as above and elsewhere on this board. BMW is fitting particulate filters to some of their petrol engines (possibly just for the European market) to comply with the new European emissions regime which comes into force in the Autumn. They are for example stopping production of the F8* M3 earlier than planned and will await the next new model.

I read somewhere that all the new X3s already built will be retrofitted either en route or presumably by dealers. I believe production has been halted to allow gearing up for the changes.

I had a call from my dealer yesterday to advise that my car ordered in December is now slotted in for Mid to late June, they had not previously been able to give me an estimated delivery date, so looks as if things are now moving.

Thats correct. Here is an article describing the situation: https://www.wiwo.de/unternehmen/auto.../20970180.html

Good to hear things are moving forward now. What did you order, M40i?

Yes M40i, getting too old for M3s , also decided to go a bit stealthy with Sophisto Grey and debadged, though a fairly full spec.

What is the impact for m40i owners in EU that don't get the new filter. Will those cars be recalled for retro fit of the filter?

I have not read any info on the M40i yet. The recent news have been about the delays for the 2.0 litre petrol versions, which had been announced with particulate filters from the start. Much of the discussion is speculation, only in one article BMW has made a statement on the delays, saying that there has been a mechanical problem with the exhaust system. And that they are replacing those exhausts before delivery.

Damn! But great news for you, congratulations.

Mine's not moved from status 5055 yet. Looking at the VIN numbers that are now shown as built, it looks like there are 5 more UK M40i's to be built before mine. They seem to manage around 3/day on average, although they've done 4 per day for the last 3 days, so hopefully it'll be built by the end of the week.

How do you find these VIN numbers? Where do you see all this?

Just change the last part for the VIN you want to check. The above VIN is one of the UK M40i numbers.
