A/C compressor causing a slight car shake at idle?
Anyone noticing an issue when their A/C is on and they are stopped at a light or stopped while idling? Every 10-15 seconds or so, I can feel a slight shudder as the compressor turns either on or off. If I turn off the A/C switch, it stops. It's enough to slightly shake the car, to the point where if I point it out to others, they can feel it as well. It's subtle though.
I was planning on taking it in to the dealer, but it would help blunt the inevitable "it's normal" if others are not experiencing this. Check it out when you're next in your car and report back. I would appreciate it. |

is there anyone noticed the air recirculation function works weird at new X3? For me, every time I manual pressed the re-circulation button, after fews seconds it will turn off itself. I don't know how to keep the outside air is permanently shut off.

From what the owners manual indicates, it seems that it might shut off if you’re in auto mode and/or using AC. It warns that recirculating air in the cabin increases humidity and causes air quality to deteriorate, but can be used temporarily to avoid immediate external smells or pollution. When the AC is on it has a condensation sensor activated that may decide to shut off recirculating air if using auto. Not sure if this applies to you... there may also be other combinations of settings that don’t mix with recirculation.

I realized today that it's actually not blowing cold air at all, so I'm guessing it's all interrelated. Must be missing refrigerant or some issue with the compressor, and yes, it is 80 degrees here today! I need the A/C on . I took it in to service this afternoon. Hopefully it's a quick fix that doesn't require a new part.

UPDATE: Problem solved. Turns out the port forgot to install refrigerant (oops). The dealer installed refrigerant, checked for leaks (there were none), and everything is working fine now. No more shudder at idle, and the A/C blows cold.

Something else to add to our delivery checklist. Hmm I wonder about other fluids.

Wow, that’s a pretty big forget. Hope they didn’t forget any other ‘little’ things.
