Sophisto Grey or Carbon Black
Hello
New to the forum and first post - don't hate on me too much Looking at X3 xdrive20d for the family - we like the size of the X3 - don't need anything too fancy or fast Currently deciding between Sophisto Grey and Carbon Black Your suggestions and why ? Thanks in advance |

I voted carbon black, but I do like sophisto grey as well. But I also have a history of black cars, so just my preference for a darker car.
Part of it boils down to the whole package...to include the interior color and the rims design and color as to which paint color looks the best.

Carbon black is a beautiful and timeless color! looks great on E46 M3s and close to 20 years later its (IMO) the best looking color on our X3s

I'm not sure I have ever looked at sophisto gray in person. Looks like maybe it has a bluish cast. I like them both. Interior color is maybe even more important to me. I used to like black interiors. Now I don't. I get ivory colors. Black inside just seems dreary to me now.

Owned one black car in my life. Looks great when clean, which is rare, will never own another one. Get whatever YOU like, not what someone on a forum recommends.

Thanks for your responses so far - I've always had Black or Dark Blue cars and black has been my preference
Currently have a deal for a Sophisto Grey demo X3, and my preference is Black however it will cost more So in saving a few grand, would it be worth compromising. I mean, the Sophisto Grey with M-sports looks fine, was just hoping someone else would convince me of it ! lol |

My X3 is space gray and oyster. I don't really consider carbon black as black. It really is dark blue. My son has a 535i wagon that is called some blue color by BMW, but it looks black in anything but sunlight.

I believe it was October 2018 vs Jan 2019, however the October 2018 also has longer registration (3 months extra compared to Jan 2019. Ended up getting the Jan 2019 compliance with more mileage - because it was closer to pick up, and they had to 'locate the 2018 model' due to it being loaned out. After negotiating prices with dealers for the past week, am worn out, so just went with the one that is easier and available. Final test drive tomorrow then assuming all goes well, pick up next week ! |

“The build date differs from the car’s compliance plate date, which confirms that the vehicle complies with Australian design standards for safety and emissions. The date shown on the compliance plate is the date when it was fitted to the vehicle by the importer (for imported cars) or the manufacturer (for locally built cars). With some vehicles, there may be a significant difference between the build date and the date of compliance due to shipping and storage time. The compliance plate may even be fitted in a different year.” Dealers will try to flog compliance date when selling, then use build date when appraising second hand vehicles - to my knowledge |
