Has anyone experienced parking assistance malfunction in their F97/98?

Yesterday it stopped working for 1/2 day out of the blue. The audio still worked but when in reverse it would not switch to backup camera with guide and diplayed a message on center screen stating that "Parking assitant has malfuncioned. If it does not come back then I should contact service" . I was able to activate the wide lens camera by pressing the camera button on the middle console. That view is too wide and can't judge distance well with it.

Searched around here and saw some X5 owners had similar issues after leaving a car wash. I washed mine on Saturday and drove it all day without an issue. The problem happened 72 hrs later
