Carplay doesn‘t Play incoming message tone

Hello,

I‘m using CarPlay in my G01 M40i and I noticed that there are no ringtones at incoming messages (SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp). Incoming calls work fine. Switching from CarPlay to Bluetooth the ringtones for messages are clearly audible.

Any idea?

Regards

I noticed the same thing. I think it’s buggy. I seem to remember it dinging in my car before but could be wrong. It should pop up on the screen when you have a new text.

This weekend I booked the one month for £1 CarPlay trial - I’ll have to have a play about with it to see if I decide to keep it. On thing I did notice... it plays the music from my phone plays better (better sound) than normal Bluetooth.

I’ll check out the messaging too...

Yes, that’s correct. That is Apple’s way of making sure the sound quality is good they actually create a WiFi connection in conjunction with Bluetooth to the car.

Thanks for that info.. the connection certainly makes a difference to the sound quality. I never bothered playing the music from my phone previously, because it just sounded so dull but I’ll definitly be playing it now.

Bluetooth is capable of high quality sound. It's just not standard between Android and Apple (APTx vs aac) and the masses don't seem to have caught onto the issues with bluetooth codecs. At least on an iPhone it's hard to tell what bluetooth profile is in use.

There is an icon popping up on the screen, but definitely no sound. That makes me nutes. Due to the better sound quality I would like to use Carplay but I also would like to be informed acoustically when a message arrives.

I think this is normal behaviour - crap though it is.

I seem to recall on another thread someone coded the car so that the ring comes through the speakers and not just phone.

Yeah - pisses me off to since I don't code. :-)
