Trust me it's red. Camera doesn't capture it. You have to see it in person. It's blood red.

I've seen other pictures showing the red, it was just that yours didn't look red at all, I presume the control illumination stays as orange as I've yet to see that coded.

I'll try and get better lighting and post pics.

No that's cool, did you manage to change the default on the HVAC etc..? As that's always annoyed me that you can't change it, I coded blue Alpina dials on my 7 to match the blue ambient lighting but the rest (HVAC/idrove etc..) stay orange.

I've gone for orange on the X3M so it all matches.

Unfortunately that is yet to be done. However this red and blue or all red light ambient combo might appease you more than the stock orange ambient you use now. It's really vivid deep red. As far as a match for the Interior color illuminations, the all red is a stunning match as well. It's mind blowing beyond comprehension why Bmw did not include red. There is also a bright yellow and magenta which is hot pink. For those females or males who love hot pink. Surprisingly looks good lol. Maybe I'll post up pics of all colors. Do my best.

Silly question but why wouldn't M models come with M ambient lighting activated? I don't understand why the code is there but BMW decided to leave it disabled on M models.

It's not an actual official M option. It's a tweak of colors that match the Bmw M logo colors and stitchings. It's a shame bmw doesn't offer such options.

Here we go a nice color daytime shot of the red and cyan. This blue is really perfect. At night the red is hot red and the blue is the perfect M blue.

Here is the regular orange and Then the regular blue. Notice how the blue has a violet hue.

I was able to do it, but I flipped it to have red on the bottom and blue-cyan on top.

Nice. Try cyan / red and cyan -blue / red. I went with cyan blue. They are both nice.

Unfortunately not yet with bimmercode. There is expert mode and I wonder what can be achieved with that. I'm not messing with that.

I am going to go blue over red too. Awaiting my V-Gate today to see if I can figure it out.

Wow things have moved on from coding I did on the f30 and esys. For the UK guys here what hardware do you recommend to use with the iPhone BimmerCode app? Cheers

Tried V Gate. Can't even find X4M on the list. Used X4 and X3M but no option for ambient lights. I changed the sound to activate on lock, but no sound activated. A bit frustrating, IMHO. I changed video in motion too, but have yet to try it. Easy to connect, agreed, but the options displayed didn't look they they did on the demo. Hmmmm.

It should be under body domain controller. Choose either x3 or x4.
