Hi guys was reading about this as much as I could in the manual and online.

I thought I'd gently reversed into a car! (Not intentional) But it seems the x3m stopped auto when the pdc gong was solid and red on the camera. I like it.

I tested it with a plant and my theory appears to be true. Can't find anything definitive but I'm sure it's a feature. Is it related to the auto hold or just part of the advanced collision avoidance. I had the advanced parking and driver assistance packs (UK options)

Thanks

It is a feature of the active rear PDC with braking intervention. Be aware it may not ALWAYS brake, but it can brake when detecting an object in close vicinity to the vehicle. Sometimes backing out of driveways can also trigger it too so it can be touchy

I've got a small one car garage and the X3M did not want to let me proceed due to the limited space on the sides.

Seems to have eased up but the first few times I had to hit the gas in order for it to let go.

Mine slammed on the brakes the other day thinking I was going to hit a car in front, but I was turning right into a petrol station, they were stopped at traffic lights so I was turning "underneath" them to their right then all of a sudden the car brakes hard and I'm like WTF? I need to turn it off.

My x3 likes to slam on the brakes for no reason backing out of my sloped driveway. Once the rear wheels drop off the curb, it usually slams on the brakes.

I'll second this. First time this happened to me I thought I backed into something.

Good gravy. I've not experienced this yet. Glad to read about it. It would have scared the crap out of me to have this happen without realizing it was the auto-stop function. It'll probably still scare the crap out of me if/when it happens, but maybe I'll remember this thread after the panic attack subsides.

FYI I think the system (intelligent safety) that performs autonomous breaking etc is different to the PDC stopping as noted.

found the PDC (active PDC) breaking in the manual

It's a pain in the ass if you live in a snowy area or are towing anything.

I have to turn it off on my mother's VW Atlas as it will slam on the brakes as I'm backing out if a spot. Annoying as all hell in those circumstances.

That won't be the PDC thing, this will be the anti crash thing. You can alter the settings on this though somewhere

Yes I know, it was a general comment about auto braking systems on the car.
