Appreciation to BC Forged NA for their personal communication this morning providing missing wheel weights for Gxs615's HCA386s, now found in the known list.
Lots of info online discussing performance and handling benefits of unsprung weight reduction, but found this short video interesting as he tried to actually define the acceleration changes using three different wheel and tire setups.(Speed Labs – Unsprung Weight and Acceleration/Why You should Buy Lighter Wheels) 5’49” |

About 700 miles in with the BC Forged RZ05 wheels - what an improvement in handling and performance these lighter weight wheels seem to allow. Subjective as I've not instrumented with autocross, track or strip data, but sure wish I had made the change to lighter wheels years ago based on what I'm sensing so far.
Now even more interested to get some formal slips as the only change was the weight (same wheel specs and tires). Surprised M doesn't allow a true monoblock lightweight forged option on their Competition models (even SAVs), as this seems to be an easy fix to overall weight savings and in a location which positively influences the driving dynamic. |

Received a PM from a new Member, rj202 , on 22 Jan 2023 0804AM in which he shared his combination he wished entered into the list. Was able to add to the known list as the BBS SX and Blizzak's stats already shared.

Neuspeed RSe102 20x9.5 ET25 that i repurposed off my S5. They were silver but had them powder coated high gloss black to match the trim.
Tires are Michelin Alpin 5 255/45R20 all around. Something to keep in mind that these wheels are Ball/acorn seat. BMW OEM are conical. so you'll need to purchase M14x1.25 Ball Seat bolts to go with these. Last edited by pmark837; 01-31-2023 at 07:02 PM.. |

Will be interesting to see what you plan on doing for your Summer set - are you going to just change the tires and keep these wheels, or is this a dedicated Winter set like BrockDM and others run? Once you get a taste of the improved handling these lighter combinations allow it'd be tough to go back to a heavier set! Last edited by Max Well; 02-01-2023 at 12:21 PM.. |
