Transfer Box- Small Leak

Hi,
Sorry not posted for ages......
I went to the BMW main dealer to get the EGR replaced as part of a recall.
When the car was in they called me to say the rear discs and pads needed replacing otherwise it would fail its MOT in December. My local independent said rubbish, just needed the pads doing for a 3rd of the price- they also passed the MOT.

Anyway..... the dealer also said it looked like there was small leak from the transfer box- oil smear. They wanted £100 to wipe it clean (), and then I would need to come back in 2 weeks to see if it still leaked- more ££ to check. They said it would be £££££ if it needed repairing.

Anyway my local independent said that was rubbish again- they looked and said it would be ~£100 to replace a gasket on the transfer box.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Note- At the moment there are no issues with how it drives and no error code etc.

Seems you should stick with your independent and stop visiting your local BMW stealership.
