Car sat for a week, started it up today, no problem, let it idle in driveway and all of these warnings came on. Drive down the road about a mile and all the stability and chassis warnings joined the party. Car went into limp mode.

BMW Roadside Assist sent a guy out and we charged battery. Reader said charge was good. Car still won't start. Seems like system needs to be rebooted. Any ideas how to do that?

No clue what to do, but I've also had the chassis stabilization warning coming on a few times already for no apparent reason. They have all happened upon startup on level ground, normal operating conditions, etc.

I'm taking mine in for the run-in service on Wednesday this week and going to ask what's up.

Amazing! Maybe it had nothing to do with battery and it's just the fucking gremlins!

Been waiting for BMW assist to come through for 5 hours. They are completely USELESS. Can't even send a truck with the equipment needed to get the car out of here.

I would disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, then reconnect just to see if it will force a reboot.

Btw, something is wrong. One week will not discharge a healthy battery unless you have added something like a camera.

The battery might be dead.

Radar detector is hardwired that's the only thing I can point to.

Check the box in your mobile browser for desktop mode, then go to advanced, and the option will appear.

My detector is hardwired and I've never had a dead battery. One way to check is if the detector shuts off when you turn the engine off / lick the vehicle.

Must be something else causing the drain.

Flatbed mode to the dealer yesterday. They had the car all day today. Jumped it and charged the battery. Pulled the codes. Got a five page list of codes. FIVE PAGES. Logs show low voltage. None of this really adds up.

Detector shuts off with the car. I think it's possible it still draws a little power. I don't know what else could've caused the problem.

Sorry to hear of your troubles – any update?

Not sure whether your low battery caused all the 5 pages of error codes, or whether the battery is defective, but in the past I’ve had to replace 4 batteries on our previous F25s, one time the morning after a 600 mile trip. At that time I was still under the impression when the motor is running the battery is always being charged, but was told on long trips (especially if charging cell phone and using USB charging for laptop which we did) that it can drain the battery. A trickle charger was recommended and purchased.

Since that time every three weeks or so I’ve hooked up our G01s (and now F97) and it takes about 16 -20 hours to fully recharge (the X3MC took 16 hours last night and I just did it 3 wks ago). I don’t know enough about Electronics to know the efficiency of vehicle self-charging and what conditions lower that, aside from the obvious of using the electronics, charging the phone, and using USB as power sources, but it does seem these high-tech vehicles have increased electrical needs.

Knock on wood I haven’t had another battery issue since routinely using the trickle charger (don’t know if it has made the difference or whether just good luck).

Low voltage with other BMWs kicks up loads of error codes as there's insufficient voltage for the ECUs so they pretty much all show failures.

Good feedback, thanks.

Car was at the dealer all day yesterday. I picked it up around 6PM drove it for an hour, parked it and it sat in the garage all day today. Started it up no problem this eve and went to run a few errands. No issues.

My v1 is hardwired via SAVVY. Ran same set up in f80 and never had a problem.

For confirmation, on my 2016 M4 I've run my V1 via the SAVVY plugged into the OBDII port with no issues for over three years. My wife's 2018 M3 has run the same setup for over a year, no issues. The SAVVY shuts down either when the car is locked or, IIRC, in 10-15 minutes if not locked. The X3/X4/X3M/X4M may operate slightly differently, but most likely also shuts down completely when the door is locked.

I am 100% certain no lights were left on and the car started right up when I got home. The problem occurred after 5 min of idle and driving 2 miles down the road.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Im experiencing a v similar set of issues. Dealer thinks its the rear power distribution box.

No root cause ever determined. Car sat for several days last week and on the first trip out all the nannies went haywire and I got messages saying front collision, pedestrian, and lane keep were malfunctioning. Drove around for 20 min. Shit the car down for an hour and restarted it, no issues.

I suspect I have a shitty battery...but dealer won't agree.

What kind of feedback did you get?
