Dyno tune vs bootmod

I'm new to BMW's and their Tuning, but am ready to go down that road. I finally have my wheels/tires going on Monday, then RG Sport lowering with MSS's on Thursday. I'm either going to do the Secondary Cat Delete/H Pipe with tune, or downpipe and tune.

I've never done canned tunes on any of my Vipers, Corvettes, Hellcats- only Dyno tunes. I live in South Orange County and see that European Auto Source does dyno tuning. My question is, what would be the difference in power/safety from an actual dyno tune to doing the Bootmod? I have E85 right down from my house, but from what I have seen, these cars aren't flex fuel, so I would have to switch the tune before using pump gas. This being the wifes grocery getter, I dont want her getting stuck somewhere with no acess to E85. Could someone straighten me out here please, i'm confused between these two options? Also, anyone have experience with European Auto Source?

I had a custom dyno tune in Europe. Not apples to apples, I know. Gas is quite different. Needless to say, I lost that tune during a dealer *upgrade" in the states and replaced it with a BM3 stage 2 tune for my high flow primary cats. Much happier with BM3 truth be told.

I'm running with a bootmod stage 1/93 tune and I'm going in next week for three pulls on a Dyno at a local shop in Fort Lauderdale. I'll post the results.

Which shop are you going to? Do you know which dyno they have?

Vette, I don’t think these guys did a custom tune. I think they flashed BM3 and did dyno pulls.

Really? I guess I'll go with the Bootmod then. Is there a flex fuel option for these cars or do you have to switch tunes every time you need to change fueling?

Alex, the shop is AG Autosports. It's an all wheel dyno, but I'm not sure of the make/model.

There is a flex fuel kit for S58, but you don’t really need it to run E30.
This car can take up to E25 according to the manual.

According to the RFA analysis, manufacturers responsible for 95 percent of U.S. light-duty vehicle sales unequivocally approve the use of E15 in their model year 2020 automobiles. For the first time ever, BMW models will carry the manufacturer's approval to use E15; in fact, the BMW Group approves the use of up to E25 in its 2020 models, including its line of Mini automobiles.

Remember e10 is common at every gas station. 90 fuel/10 ethanol. So you need to keep that into account when mixing e25 or e30. E85 would be more than likely 3 gallons added to e10 to play it safe. However you need to test efficacy of the pumps actually ethanol count. Can very widely.

Not to sure if EAS do any dyno tune.
AFAIK, they just install whatever available, they don't do the actual dyno tune. At least for the latest B series motor and this new S58.

If you run e30, you need to adjust the timing/ get a tune or the engine will run lean.
