Brake pad wear sensor

Help! One of my rear brake pad sensors is broken and the dealer won't replace it (still under warranty/service). Not sure how it happened, but apparently it's a $10 part and they want to charge $130 to replace. No TY.

Pads were measured and have plenty of life left.

Anyone have experience changing this?

Expires in 6 months, rear brakes have lots of material left, not going to need replacement.

Super easy. Unplug it on both ends and re-attach it (the new one that is).

Dealership measured the pads and determined they would not replace the pads, nor the sensor.

I believe the wire is cut, FYI.

"ROTOR" thickness not "pad"

When you buy a new sensor, it includes the wire. See part #11 here https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=34_1927

Arguably you can probably still drive a couple thousand miles on the "worn pads" on the bottom. All depends on your driving style

Is there a way to remove the nag screen about the brake service? Comes on each start on the idrive screen, and won't go away unless you press OK, even reverse cam doesn't go on top.

To OP,

To answer your initial question, yes. I just completed a DIY rear brake job on our 2013 X3. Replacing the rear brake sensor isn't difficult.

I highly recommend taking a lot of pictures of how the old wiring/sensor is routed so you can put the new one in the same way. There are various clips and brackets where it attaches on the car. Sorry, don't have pictures to share. One end plugs into a connector inside a small box on the inner wheel well. Just gently pry the door off the connector box to access the plug. Then route the new wire in the same clips/brackets as the old one. For the end that goes into the brake pad, just be sure you firmly press it down into place.
