Would this be an option to purchase afterwards and for an m40?

What makes this "precision"?
Three Germans made it after drinking heavily the night before.

It wasn't originally available at any price. That's the point. It has appeared in the configurator, shortly after the car was launched (only 1 month after launch in Europe), as a no-cost option.
I suspect most (all?) early adopters would probably have picked it if it had been an option and we'd had the choice. I guess BMW are running low on carbon!

The Carbon Exterior Package was also supposed to be available in August too, but is now due for release in December... Clearly that won't be a no-cost option when it appears though! And that is probably an easy retro-fit at the dealer...

Nice for new customers. Not so great for us early adopters...
Wonder how loud they will laugh if I ask for a free retrofit

Boooo BMW. Boooooo.

As a no cost option, I would have selected it for kicks as a nice touch. If I had to pay for it, probably not. To go and do it now... If anyone has $1,000 just burning a hole in their pocket and wants to get rid of it, just Venmo me. I can come up with many better uses!

It's a $500 standalone option here in Canada.

$500CAD doesn't seem right if IND paid $1373USD...

$1400 is a heavy price. Would really wish BMW would do us a solid and give us early adopters a retrofit. I'd quite bad enough that they were missing a number of parts/options on release.

I wonder how many X3/4M sold vehicles out there would eligible for a retrofit if BMW would grant it.

No. Two different engine setups.

Off the shelf part pricing and added at factory pricing are two very different things.

Check the BMW Canada Retail Pricing Guide. IND is probably buying it from the parts dept and not adding it to a factory build.

If it was offered as a free retrofit, I don't think I'd even bother due to the hassle of a dealer visit...
