Every year I say never a black car again. But damn if they don't look sooo good when they're clean. Just when I think I'm out...

Are seats more comfortable vs current m3/4?

Then it'll probably flip. I'll get a non black car then wish it was black. Hate the tug of war. |

As I was heading out last night the sunset provided great warm spectrum lighting for images. Here's one which highlights the front grill details well.

A couple of questions for the OP (beautiful ride, by the way!):
1) Your car is clearly a Competition but is missing that badge from the back. Did you just debadge that piece? 2) Your rear floor looks flush whereas most I've seen are raised because they have the spare tire under there. Does yours not have a spare? Is that perhaps because you opted for the Mobility Kit instead, and doing so removes the spare? I can't figure that out... Thanks.

1)- yes, just a partial debadge of the Competition part. I chose BSM so the rails, fake breathers and trim items would blend together as a whole, and the Competition badge was too cluttered for what I was aiming for so I removed it. I left the X3M badge as it's black font blends well. I wish the X3M breather and front grill badges had also been in black font but not much I can do about that I guess. 2)- yes, ordered the Mobility Kit so I wouldn't have the spare and it's hump. On vacation right now but I'll share a few more images and thoughts when I get back (I'll have 1,200 miles then and have my first svc already scheduled for early in the week), but I can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying it. |

Just back from our 700 mile trip – what a joy! Flawless and beautiful handling, priceless to know you have the power when you need it, and just a thrill to drive. Can’t remember too many trips where I wished I had more miles to cover, but that is what this X3MC delivers for us. Here are a few early AM pictures from the trip, and I’ll share a few more when I get the chance.
Aside from the power delivery which I expected to be dramatic, I’ve got to admit my main surprise has been how markedly different the handling is c/w even the M40i which is great in its own right. I now understand the draw to the M Division. This has nothing to do with the badge, but the pure confidence in all aspects of the driving experience it inspires is breathtaking. And to see my wife’s transition from initially having to talk her into the idea of the M when the M40i is ‘all we need’, to then hear ‘these seats are great’ and it ‘sure corners well’, to now wanting to drive it when we head out in the morning, to at least listening when I mention she may wish to consider one when her M40i is ready for replacement… Priceless |

Here's another image from our trip. I also added the HWY mpg numbers to the G01 data I had previously collected and am attaching that chart. None of us purchase the F97/98 looking at mpg data, but a lot has been discussed about range. As so much depends on temperature and altitude when discussing these numbers felt a chart would allow each to see what type of range they might expect given a set cruising HWY speed, temp and altitude. This removes all of the variables seen with inner-city and suburban numbers which are exceedingly difficult to translate across the board. So if stuck on a long stretch of country road w/o gas stations in sight, setting at 57mph cruise during regulated speed limit roads of 55-60mph gave us 26.5mpg, or a rough range of 450 miles. At average speed of ~79.0mph cruise control on the Interstate, we averaged about 20.5 mpg, so about 350 miles (calculating 17.0 gal tank - understand prudent folks wouldn't push it to that). |

A few final images from our trip.
The 1200 mile Service has been completed, so I’m hoping to try some runs at the strip in the upcoming months. I’m curious to see how the interval times will compare between 'Efficient - no L/C', 'Sport - no L/C', 'Sport+ - no L/C', and then with L/C. I know the 0-60 and ET/mph will vary but I don't know how the intervals will compare. |
