1. CarPlay wont let you use keypad "press 1 for....". Maybe this will change with updates?
2. No audio warning when using Waze. Using the BMW system I keep Waze running on my phone with Waze audio set "as bluetooth phone call" and I get the audio warnings (and visual on the IDrive screen) via the car speakers.
OK - no map of where the police are but you can't miss the warning.
Re 1., do you mean the shortcut buttons? If so, there’s no need for them anymore, just use Siri to ask for whatever you want!
Oh, that works fine for me! I'm running iOS 13 public beta 6

While it does suck, the iPhone 6 probably doesn't work because it only has 1GB RAM. The latest iPhones have 4GB, and Samsung's android S10 has 8GB (12GB for some special models).

I see, if you want better compatibility you need a more modern phone.

it's all a game......they don't support it because its marketing to FORCE you to buy a new one.
This is why people leave Apple.

I paired an iPhone Xs running IOS13 with my car.
Still I do not get AUDIO warnings while Waze is running on CarPlay
Nor would the "keypad" work.

Other side here!

Tried CarPlay, disliked it immensely, turned it off, and it remains so. Because my wife received some random text while we were driving and I had the car's nav working, CarPlay took over the screen to show her text, just as we were approaching a complex highway interchange. We wound up missing the proper turn. It also inteferes with the Satellite Radio and doesn't restore it after each event (such as another incoming text), so we had to reselect the radio manually each time. Put me in the "never CarPlay" group.

What is the current situation with Apple CarPlay, in 2019 BMW introduces the subscription fee for it. There was some talk about that going away in 2020. Cars which hav the CarPlay option. They get to use it for only 1 year still and then have to pay a charge to BMW?

I started using ACP once Google Maps was integrated. Takes some getting used to but now I use it exclusively if I need nav, since google maps is the only nav that I trust. Switching between the google maps screen and sirius/xm or spotify is pretty easy, and those are the functions i need. i like seeing the list of songs being played on my recent Sirius/Xm stations list. I also have a iPhone XR which is compatible w the wireless charging so battery drain with ACP is not an issue. Could be better but i've switched now to ACP.

Yep, and no stock fullscreen to show for it! Thanks, BMW!

Bump. Is the subscription fee solely a BMW idea or does Apple have anything to actually do with it?

Just BMW. For "ongoing support." I'll believe it when I see it.

We are NOT alone ... I found this line an online review of the new Porsche Macan S:

Apple CarPlay is available, but despite the fact that Apple offers it to automakers for free, Porsche has deigned to charge owners for it, either as a $360 standalone or as part of the $3,110 Premium Package. Android Auto remains absent, which is a little frustrating.

I didn't like Carplay when I got my X4 in January. I just tried it again with iOS 13 and I like it better but I can't stand that if I'm listening to Satellite radio and I open up a social media app with audio on my phone, it will auto switch to carplay audio and stop playing the satellite audio. Anyone know if this can be turned off?

You can turn off receiving text messages in CarPlay, which I have done. I agree getting them on CarPlay is intrusive, but using Waze is great.

Why have satellite radio anyway? Switch your subscription to Spotify or Apple Music and enjoy it everywhere - not just in your car.

I like Car Play because I am able to shuffle my music. I don't think you can do that with BT.
