I currently enjoy the cellphone mount on my MB. Does not cover any parts of the screen and the vents are also not covered. And it doesnt look like crap when not in use.

mine is similar, it comes with a plastic mount that clips over the hazard lights.

I have one of these, I never use the cup holders so not an issue for me only downside is I cannot close the cover over the charging tray/cup holes

https://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F8J168/

They also have a window and vent mount..

I bit on the wireless charging

Have a 2020 X3 on order - and while it kind of gaffed me to pay $500 for wireless charging - I'm so sick of my "vent clip" holder in my old Honda Pilot that I'm looking forward to just laying the phone on the charging pad....

I have a "ProClip" in my vette and works great, the Proclip is made just for your vehicle & is very sturdy & no holes to drill or dash to remove, one part is made for the car the second is for the phone, when I get my BMW X3 Proclip is what I'm going to..

Second for ProClip on the quality, but I dislike the lack of different options by them for newer model vehicles. I had the A-Pillar mount from them for my F30, worked great and never had any issues, but they don't make A-Pillar mounts for the newer vehicles which is where I prefer my phone to be mounted. I have been using a suction cup mount so far on my X3, and while it works, after about 6 months now it's starting to lose its' grip. I don't like the other options of blocking my air vents or having the phone lower down somewhere as I mainly use it in the car for Waze and want to be able to have it near my main line of sight.

If you dont like Vent Mounts you could look at this https://www.brodit.com/product.html?...l=X3&year=2019 then choose your phone mount to simply screw to the front

I just started experimenting with Ram Mounts' "Tough Wedge." This just wedges between the center console and the seat. Then you attach whatever you want. I'm only a day in but it works great so far. Made in USA is a sweet plus.

Can't imagine, how that can be secure and not moving there. It's not mounted to anything. What happens when you brake hard? I have doubts, it will stay in place. One is also limiting the space for passengers leg (at least it appears from the photos and videos I watched). I have some RAM mounts, one is very good (suction cup on windshield with X-Grip), the other not so much (ez strap with X-Grip on bicycle).

The Tough Wedge fits snug enough that the mount doesn't move at all. It is solid enough that the mount doesn't lose position even when releasing the phone by pushing the phone up against the spring-loaded 'claws' on the device holder. Ram Mounts does make a version with a inflatable bladder to swell the fit, but my F30 doesn't need it... even after my detailer freshly treated my leather seats.

As for passenger legs... Honestly I haven't tried sitting over there. I'll try it and see. The beauty is I can just yank the Tough Wedge out without tools if I want to. I did try putting the Tough Wedge on the driver's side of the console and my leg didn't touch it; I just didn't like the phone on that side.

So today I went over to the passenger side for a test fit. If I sit normally, my legs don't touch. I guess I should spin the extension around so the wing nut is facing the console so there's more room, but it's really not an issue... Especially since I can take out the mount in 1 or 2 seconds.

Adding a screenshot of the three reviews for the Tough Wedge on Amazon. These people are putting tablets on these things and loving it. No wonder its like a rock when holding my "little" iPhone 11 Pro.

The criticism is this isn't a cheap route to holding a device. The Tough Wedge itself was $66; then you need a cradle ($16 for the Quick Grip model I chose); and then a ball base for the back of the cradle ($7) puts this setup at $106. The other critique is it also isn't a very svelte setup.

Pluses are it's completely portable, largely universal, and it doesn't block any vents or put any holes in your vehicle. Did I mention it's also made in USA?! 🇺🇸

Thanks for the testing. Well... none of the RAM solution is discreet. They are rather robust.Which can be a bad and good thing at the same time. Got to take a look to the seating position in the X3 - not exactly the same as in yours 3er Maybe it will be better there. The suction cup which I have is a little far to reach the phone during the ride, and this is yet bad and good at the same time. That's why this caught my attention. It uses a space which has no other purpose, unlike the vent holders, cup holders, and windshield holders like mine.

Without doubt the best mounts are the Brodit ones, I got the adjustable active USB C to Lightning cable one and connected it to a fast charge adapter behind the dash for true PD fast charging:

Strange that site brands them as Proclip, even though the holders say Brodit on them!

I have used the ProClip system from the Swedish company "Brodit AB" on my last 4 cars, changing mount when changing car, and changing holder when changing phone.
Worked beautiful every time.

Finally got a phone holder that I like. Brand CLEC and it actually looks like it belongs in the car and not just a stick on aftermarket option and the placement is perfect for me as well.
