BMWX3 Driving Assistant Plus

When you are in Cruise Control activated and set mode, and the car in front of you stops dead At Red or Stop, and you stop...do you have to hit the Resume button?

In the Demo it stopped at red lights and stop signs and started off again automatically. What am. I doing wrong? Car is not in Auto Hold mode. I switch that feature off because of the slight hesitation and shudder.

Please advise and or link to instructions.

Thanks.

Cy

It will but only if the pause is a few seconds. It’s much longer if traffic jam assistant kicks in though.

What he said. In these situations I rather push the pedal myself and resume CC after.

Are you saying that it will also stop at stop lights and stop signs by itself with no cars in front? With ACC stop and go I can use it in heavy traffic and it will do throttle, spacing and braking while monitoring the car length in front to determine needed action. I'm not aware that it will come to a stop sign or stop light and stop.

Sorry I thought you meant at red lights and stop signs when there's a vehicle in front of you. It's definitely not possible for your X3 to stop with no vehicle in front.

Of course, the X3 will stop once it gets close to pedestrians crossing the road at red signal, but I reckon you'll not want to bank on that

I just give the pedal a little press once you see the car emblem in the HUD start to move forward. I've never waited to see if it will start on it's own, just because it seems to delay so long.

When I use ACC stop and go I set the cruise to 50+ MPH and then hit heavy traffic. I set the distance to 1 bar, following is always steady. And once at a stop I will go into start stop and then it will start back up again and continue on. I use stop n go frequently if in traffic. It works very well. I don't use Assisted driving often as it's a little inaccurate and bounces around in the lane. It's best to use assisted driving if following another vehicle because it wi use that vehicle to track the lane as well.
