Just activated mine on my new X3 M40i - lots of problems connecting. Car Play constantly dropping the signal. Tried switching phone off and disabling etc. still doesn't work. Anybody with these issues?

Has the car got wifi hotspot prep, or have you fitted a Wifi antenna?

I fitted an aftermarket antenna as mine doesn't have hotspot prep, and I've never had a problem.

I've posted a thread how to install WiFi antenna.
Pretty easy and cheap mod.

Exactly, depends on software version.
NBTEvo_N and NBTEvo_O are Fullscreen capable and could be activated using USB.

NBTEvo_P,Q,R also Fullscreen capable but ENET cable is required.

Kubax, could you post a link to your thread? I would like to try and avoid a cable if possible.

Is it an apple or BMW issue?

My CarPlay ended today at the 1 yr mark.

Need to decide if I'm keeping the x4 and buying car play or trading the car in . Lol

what do you mean by "hotspot enabled"? if you don't have carplay preparation (meaning additional WiFi antenna), then your phone has to be close to the headunit (resting on the cover of the cupholders is just fine) to connect to Carplay. If even within this range you cannot connect, then I assume you have problems either with your phone or not correct carplay activation.

Just install WiFi antenna and it will be good!

Hello, does anyone know how to remove/disable this annoying icon (animation) of the microphone which appears every time a spoken navigation indication is coming from google maps while using carplay?

I have modded/coded full screen carplay with ENET cable method.
With waze it doesn't show up, just with google maps.

So, has anyone figured out how to activate ACP via coding AFTER your subscription expires? Looking at getting an X3 for the better half and she tends to hold cars for years, so not a lease. Not sure she'll even use ACP, but the CarPlay subscription from BMW just irks the hell out of me. I also call BS on BMW "updating" their software over time as justification for the subscription fee. I guess the 20 year/$300 charge would be better.

Just picked up my 2020 X3 and trying to use Car Play with Waze and my radio (phone is Iphone 11). Every time a voice prompt from Waze comes on (turn, warning, etc) it cuts off my radio and I need to choose a station again to get the radio on. The genius fiddled with it and said I need to have Car Play and Waze activated before the radio and it will work correctly. Well not really, sometimes it does and sometimes it does not - very random. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, same here in a 2018. Radio cuts off, especially when Waze is first started. Requires hitting radio shortcut button. Happens randomly afterward too...needing to hit the button again

With me if it happens in the beginning it will happen at every other Waze voice prompt - every single one (which isn't bad if its a long highway trip but something with a lot of turns it is horrible). Add to that to be perfectly honest when the genius said "Make sure the radio is off before turning on Car Play/Waze" afterwards I realized I don't even know how to actually turn the radio off - my display shuts down leaving my car and the radio stays on (I can only mute it). When I called the 800# and spoke to a genius there his response was "I have no idea what he meant - you cannot actually turn the radio off." Would love to read the manual if there was one - under radio it says "See navigation manual" which is not provided!
