is there a compatible tune for VRSF downpipe
hello, was wondering if any of you could provide some comment on what your experience with the MHD tune has been with a downpipe. My 2015 X3 just had the VRSF catted downpipe installed and now i have a check engine light with my JB4 tune. I just had a comment from VRSF that MHD seems to have better compatibility so it suggests I should replace my JB4. I also reached out to Burger Motorsports and they said "While the JB4 includes a function to delete fault codes this is a one time delete and if the problem is still active the fault will quickly come back. BMS is unable to provide assistance with any fault code resulting from the removal of factory hardware other than suggesting the factory hardware be reinstalled." Should i consider replacing my JB4 tune and invest in the MHD tune? I would really love to have my tune compatible to my catted downpipe/chargepipe/upgraded FMIC (all VRSF components). I also installed a Remus dual exhaust muffler as well. My biggest concern right now is that i don't want to do any harm to my motor with my CEL if its trying to get the ECU to alter settings. My MPGs seem quite reasonable even tho you'd swear the thing is running rich it stinks so badly and cleaning the soot piles off my exhaust tips daily is getting annoying.

Hey reillyrocks! Funny timing... my x3 is at my mechanics yesterday and today getting all VRSF components installed as well! Same, catted downpipes, fmic and charge pipe!
But I’ve had great great great experience with bootmod3 flash tune on another bimmer, so have already purchased the flash license for it, just not flashed it yet. My understanding, though, is bootmod3 supports o2 code disable, and as soon as I get the car back and tune it, I can let you know how it goes! I’m waiting on the air intake from aFe still, but since I don’t think that’s an absolute requirement for stage 2 tune, I’ll probably start with stage 2 right off the bat. I’m sad to hear you’re getting exhaust stink even with the catted pipes... And I’m hoping the pipes aren’t a ton louder than stock, (I’m guessing not if you also changed out to Remus muffler). Either way I’ll let you know once I get my hands on her again! |

Oh, one other thing is I know bootmod3 is compatible with having a JB4 in as well, not sure about MHD.
I bought the xHP transmission tune, but haven’t decided yet if it’ll go on the X3 or my 650 gran coupe... likely the x3 though because I think it will have a larger impact there, (and because bootmod3’s transmission flash, I’ve read, disables the paddle shifters) |

mhd does have an option to back end flash jb4
afaik, either bm3 or mhd should get your concerns squared away My $0.02 ... I am presently MHD stg 1 tuned. I am gearing up for a stg 2+ tune soon ... like the 2 of you, I also am sitting on dp + fmic + charge pipes. If I could do it all over again, I feel BM3 would have been a better buy, cause I would have had the option to transfer my license over to my next car. With MHD, I am kind of STUCK with it and will need to re buy everything for my next car |

So, just got the VRSF catted DP’s, FMIC and charge pipe installed!
For me, no CEL before BM3 tune, and no CEL after BM3 stage 2 tune. Is it possible you are running rich? I did confirm, however, that BM3 has support for disabling CEL for any particular error code (by error code), that you may be having. And I believe it has a default setting for O2 codes. The gains in lower speeds is incredible! I’m loving this car!

but how would bolt-on HW be affected by the wastegate control mechanism, part of the turbo itself? Certainly the VRSF FMIC is compatible with both, no? Is the turbo actually a different part altogether between PWG and EWG or something? I would expect the only mod-impact differences between PWG and EWG turbo would the be tune, no?

Fmic cutting of a couple plastic corners was fairly little I believe. I’ll see if I can get a pic later |

Pics would be helpful. Also wondering if the bracket design has been improved since their first version.

Sorry this isn’t an awesome pic, but shows where cuts were made, taken from the front lower grill.
Bracket was just fine apparently, it bolted on easily without modifications except for cutting the plastic. In your mind, Rotate the pic 90 degrees clockwise. It is showing passenger side of fmic. Drivers side the plastic next to it was perfectly vertical, I think uncut. Hopefully you can compare to yours and this helps,
