Just for info folks, in case anyone else is experiencing similar symptoms.
My iX3 has developed a creaking from the front driver and passenger side, which was particularly noticeable when manoeuvring at low speed. It's been into the dealers today and requires both top mounts replacing. Apparently quite a common problem at the moment across a few BMW models. All covered under warranty thankfully! |

Hello,
Is this a component we can check visually without the car needing to go on a ramp? Just out of interest as I’m about to get to 25,000 miles soon. Many thanks, |

It needs to be on a ramp to see anything, even then it’s only really diagnosed by the symptoms (either knocking if really worn, or the rubber creaking in my case). If it’s still in warranty I’d book it in and say you’ve heard some creaking and get them to check it out. The easiest way to check it is to drive over some undulations / small bumps in a car park, it is most noticeable when it’s on full lock. Cold weather makes it significantly worse. Hope that helps. @Geordie EV - I’m not sure of the exact cost, but you would be looking at around £1000 with parts and labour. The work took about 3 hours, and then a wheel alignment on top. Cheers |
