So I pulled the trigger and am having the standard summers pulled off and putting on all seasons. Got a nice set on all season Conti's. Hate that BMW just didn't offer this as an option. Sucks.

Let us know how the ride compares versus the runflats.

Stock performance? Stock all seasons?

Let me know as I have the stock 19” all seasons and would love to swap for a summer set

Out of interest, what tyres and size did you get?

Have the optional 20" staggered Bridgestone summer run flats. Got the same staggered size but Continental high performance all seasons that are highly rated.

The local BMW dealer (Darien Connecticut) matched the TireRack price and is only charging $100 to swap them out..

Will sell the the summers eventually. They are good as new with 1500 miles on them and never curbed and no weird vibrations.

Will you please share specific Continental model as I am considering doing the same thing to my 20" wheels. I've run Michelin MDXs on my X5 4.4i as an all-season and they are pretty good, but I haven't yet researched if they have the staggered tire sizes for our build.

I'd definitely consider the Conti's based on your research. Thanks in advance!

Looks like you can't get the Conti's in the UK.

Annoying!

These are the all seasons I went with. Note that the size is slightly off. The BMW dealer parts guy noticed it and ordered the correct size to exactly match what we have for front and for the rear.

Had those on my 335. They’re great tires. Let us know how they feel on the X3!

DavidLX3M40i,

Thank you for the detail. I found our exact sizes on TireRack, so I may order these. It will be less costly than a second set of rims and full Winter tires, provided these perform well enough in snow/ice...

Good to hear they were great on the 335. They will be installed Thursday and will post a follow-up after a few days

I only had that set-up for a short time before selling the car, so I didn’t do a rotation. As I recall, the Conti’s are not unidirectional, so you can do a left-right swap in a staggered configuration. Correct?

Did the swap. The Conti's are noticably quieter and more forgiving on rough roads. Did not push around corners to allow for a break-in period. But probably safe to assume it will not handle as well when pushed. Always a compromise. Feel better that I'll be better prepared for the first snow though.

Looks good. Since these tires are not runflat, and I assume you do not have the spare tire, what’s your strategy if you get a puncture on the road?

It’s the same situation for me and I’m trying to decide whether I get all seasons or a dedicated winter set

For me, The dedicated winters I got are ARAMID REINFORCED so hopefully in my case it will not be an issue...I do not have a spare either...

Picked up a green slime kit with a mini compressor. It's only good for punctures so if I shred a tire I'll have to call roadside.

Just threw these on 19inch. They are 1000 better than the stock 19 RFT Duelers. Quite. Smooth. Handles better. Confident grip around corners

Oh nice to hear! Figured the cornering would be negatively impacted. Excellent

The car definitely rides better without run flats but it's still rough due to the suspension (I have the M Suspension). I'm not a continental fan so I bought P Zero AS+ tires for mine and they've been great. Road noise is significantly less than the factory 21" wheels with Bridgestone Azeras I previously ran.

For 20" wheels this is the factory sizing:

Front: 245/45R20 101Y
Rear: 275/40R20 103Y

One reason I picked the Contis for my 335 is that they’re relatively light. For the X3 application, the DWSs are 5 pounds lighter in front and 4 pounds lighter in the rears compared to the Alenzas. You should get a performance and ride quality improvement just from the reduced unsprung weight.

Went on a long drive over the weekend and cannot say enough about how great these tires are. Such a huge difference in ride quality.
