Replace battery negative cable

Hi. I have a BMW X3 2007 and need to replace the brown negative battery cable located in the trunk because it’s loose and unable to be tightened. The BMW dealership told I need a new one and wants around $400 to replace. Does anyone know how this is done? I don’t know how to remove the foam piece covering the other end of the cable that’s not connected to the battery. Is this a complicated job or can this easily be done if I get a new cable? Thanks.
