Enabling Anti-Dazzle and 5 blink turn single - Bimmercode
I know this has been covered in other threads ("Bimmercode coding on G01 - Share...") for example. But there are over 178 pages on that thread and searching can be time consuming.
I have been able to add the Anti-Dazzle function that was turned off by BMW when I purchased the car and added the ability to have 5 blink turn singles that I have been trying to do since I bought my 2022 X3 M40i. It is my understanding the newer models already have this enabled at the factory. I had all but given up making changes to enable Anti-Dazzle without having to pay for coding until I stumbled on a way to do it thanks to a post by Goody4. Keep in mind I am only a novice using Bimmercode and never wanted to even think about going into Expert Mode. However the change is so simple I decided to try it and it was successful. To ENABLE Anit-Dazzle: Using Bimmercode EXPERT MODE Under Body Domain Controller 3532 LaMaster3 C_HBA_ENA> enable (Should already be set to ENABLE) if you have previously done the factory software update. C_HBA_GFHB_ENA>enable That is it. Keep in mind that in order for the Anti-Dazzle to work the following things must be true:
Some have stated in other threads that there are a few other changes that can be made to fine tune the Anti-Dazzle but this change alone is much better for my driving. One Touch Five Blink Turn Signal After changing setting in Bimmercode you need to go into iDrive under CAR>SETTINGS>Exterior Lighting>One-Touch Turn Signal and change to 5 blinks in order for the change to take. |

Hi. Weclome and thank you for this post. But for the 5 times turn signal.
Yes there is an option in Bimmercode under HeadUnit. And then it shows up in the Idrive but selecting it is not possible. It unchecks itself all the time. At least this is true when we all on here tried on the 2019 and 2020 models. Can you confirm it works for you on your 2022? Actually maybe there was an update that makes it work now? Ill go and flash it again to 5 and report back.

FWIW, I can.
Bit of odd coding story here: I first programmed this when I got the X3 in July 2022. I had do this in Expert Mode because the Bimmercode shortcut wouldn't work. The 5 blinks worked with expert mode, however, there was no option shown in the iDrive settings for 5 blinks, even though I had it and it was working. (No, I don't remember the lines I coded, but they're somewhere on the 'Net.) The peculiar thing that happened was when I got the latest OTA software update a few months ago, the update cleared all of prior coding EXCEPT the 5 blinks option. Not only that, the 5 blinks check-off box magically appeared in the iDrive settings menu. My suggestion for LCI models (2022+ MY) is to see if the 5 blink option has "appeared" in the iDrive menu, if you have the latest over-the-air update. Do not download the software update unless you're prepared to re-code almost all of your changes prior to the update. Last edited by Goody4; 11-28-2023 at 08:50 AM.. |

Right on.
Now does Anti Dazzle decrease regular headlight output? Or does it only affect when your high beams are on?

--It sure does. Some street and highway signs reflect light back to the HBA enough so that the system believes the signs are oncoming vehicles and will turn off the highs. It's not that much of an annoyance, and I've learned to ignore this "feature". |

Only blocks out parts of the high beams if there is an object detected. If it’s clear ahead it’s business as usual.

Unless you specifically coded it, the light dance you are seeing is probably just the high beams turning on and off in their entirety. They come on gradually but will turn off all at once. Once anti-dazzle is coded, you will see them partially turn off with on-coming traffic and/or traffic in front of you.

No, this requires the matrix LED headlights on the LCIs.

It only applies to high beam, the principle being the high beams are on more of the time without affecting surrounding vehicles, hence better visibility for you.

BMW disable this feature in the US, but it may be possible to recode if the hardware options are present on pre LCI cars. May be worth asking one of the commercial coding providers for advice. |

Thanks for sharing this. Interestingly for me on my 2020 it was under LeMaster2 and not 3.

That is likely VLD or Variable Light Distribution. I believe that is enabled from the factory as there is no longer a 8S4 (decoding VLD) in VO (Vehicle options). 5AP (decoding anti-dazzle) is still in VO (i.e. anti-dazzle is not enabled from the factory for North America).
