'Kick to open' feature missing
Mine is an M Sport Pro that will be delivered missing this feature, even though the dealer says it will not be missing anything, I will really miss this feature as I will be moving a lot of boxes over the next few months, does anybody know if this is something the dealer can fit in the future or is it a case of it isn't there when made, you can't get it?

You can retrofit it but it will cost a lot esp if you plan to use genuine parts. In my country, this feature is missing in recent lots as well and local BMW says retrofit it even using genuine parts will void the warranty.

Guesing unless I get the dealer to commit, the dealer has already told me it will come complete, no deletions but as we all know and as Genius has told me, mine is coming with the 3 deletions, problem is it is via a lease company so they may not be willing to do this

my ix3 that will be delivered in october doesn't come with this feature either, and I miss it a lot with two small children, there is that I'm getting some money for these flaws but what I wanted was the missing features, especially the opening of the trunk without
hands. there are those who say that by the end of the year there may be a recall to put the chip that is missing from the mechanism... but these are just rumours... |

Mine also going to be missing this, but having had it on an old car and never really using it, i’m not too fussed… I asked the question of the company car lease company about reduction to reflect missing features, who asked the dealer- who i suspect laughed, then replied- no chance!

My other half thought this was a deal-breake for her. Don't let it that.
It can be opened with the key and the button. Think beyond the upcoming box-moving extravaganza. |

I got it to work 2 consecutive times (open and then close) for the first time the other day, but most of the time it is unreliable to say the least.

Hello,
I've ordered the M Sport, which doesn't have this feature, however my old Ford Kuga did have the hands free tailgate. I'm not sure if it's the same with the iX3 sensors under the tailgate, but the technique that worked best for me with the Ford Kuga was more "swipe" under the boot for example left to right, that a kick under if that makes sense? Many thanks, |

You reversing camera must be faulty. The car uses the camera to check whether your hands are full. If you are carrying stuff, the boot refuses to open with a kick. If your hands are empty, it opens every time...

I don't have one at the moment so it may have changed, but on my X3 M40i it was a straight kick rather than a wave. So middle of the bumper, foot straight in and straight back, no need for fancy foot waving. This worked for me 99% of the time and made it a pleasure to use.
