X3M Dinan Exhaust (Non Competition) Review + Sound Clip Videos

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Recently picked up a 2020 X3M and it being the Non Competition model I knew that it needed some more sound to be more engaging for daily driving. That is where the Dinan exhaust comes into play. It has completely transformed the entire car. The quality of the exhaust is great and the install is straight forward. Attached are some pictures of the exhaust before install as well as before and after clips.

The exhaust tips are easily my favorite part of the exhaust. The tips fit the car very well even if they look to be too big out of the box. Also it was great how you can adjust the tips to exactly how you want it to sit.

Overall, the Dinan exhaust was much needed for the car. In efficient mode hit added some much needed sound over stock and in sport in transformed the car to exactly what I wanted it to be like. It added burbles without needing to tune the car. If anyone is looking for an exhaust on their X3/4M, I would highly recommend this exhaust. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop them below!

Install was completed by RG Sport r33_RGSport here in Southern California

That does sound good, nice upgrade!

This removes the flaps right as I can't see them in the pics anymore, or are they on the outer ports?
How's the drone when putting along on the highway?

Valves are retained and are on the outer pipes. You can see them on the shots of the base exhaust above before install.

No matter the configuration I have never perceived any drone on the X3M exhaust but maybe the OP has a different take.

Sounds excellent.

Thanks for this! Had one on my 335, and would likely be my exhaust of choice for the F97, so I appreciate the clip.

Enjoy!

Sounds like it. This requires cutting the midpipes, correct? Not that I'm worried, just couldn't remember

Yes correct, you cut right after the resonators. Secondary cats and resonators are still there.

What's the delivery time looking like for these? I know there were some supply delays due to the pandemic.

That is what I am showing on a new order as well. Generally speaking exhaust supply chain is getting "better" but we have a large hole/backorder to dig ourselves out of yet. Getting caught up can't come soon enough. =/

Just watch the Dinan videos of their X3M exhaust on YouTube. They do back-to-back clips of the Comp exhaust (on a comp car) with their exhaust on the same car.

I don't think anyone has posted a video of the Comp exhaust on a base car yet.

Wow, i want this exhaust more for those fat tips than the actual sound 😁. Those looks so good. Sounds good too!

I've been contemplating different set ups for my non-comp x4M. Wonder how this would sound with downpipes as well.

Thanks for the idea. What do you think of the comparison?

Watch with headphones — the difference is material. Sounds OEM+ to me, and retains the valves which is huge. I would imagine the sound sharpens up with the addition of a downpipe.

Those exhaust tips too!

I think the Dinan sounds very nice. Definitely a noticeable step up from the stock Comp exhaust and a huge step up from the base muffler. I would have gotten one myself but don't care for the larger tips. I know I probably could have found aftermarket tips that would have fit but I wound up going with a Remus setup instead. Granted the Remus was almost double the price (most of the price difference being the ridiculously expensive Remus titanium/carbon fiber tips) but sounds even better in my opinion. The Remus and Akra seem to be made a bit better too, which also adds to the price.

No doubt the Dinan is the best bang for your buck right now.
