2k RPM harmonic vibration
I have the vehicle at the dealer for other issues (oil leak) but ever since I got the car there's been some sort of subtle yet very audible harmonic vibration right at 2,000 rpms. It doesn't matter the gear or the speed. It almost sounds like something vibrating against something else. It's about a 50rpm window. It more pronounced once the vehicle warms up.
Has anyone else had something like this on their X3M? It's at the dealer right now and they heard it too but I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else?

I used to have that kind of sound on my old Camaro, but not like vibrating against something. The exhaust drone on the high way like that, pitch slightly oscillating up and down a little. I just considered it singing to me.
With my X4M and AA midpipe the 2k rpm with valves open is the sweet-spot for me when cruising on the highway. Nice little vvvvvvvvvvvvv that's kinda lulling and comforting, yet is loud enough to everyone outside the car to let them know you mean business. |

I recently purchased a pre owned X3M with only 15k miles and i have something similar especially on cold starts. It's definitely coming from exhaust and i suspect a loose baffle (i've hear on other vehicles) or valve/ valve control.

Interesting, I have a metallic drone at a bit higher RPM, but only with the valves fully open with the VSC valve controller. Maybe your variable factory valve control is failing and the stock drone is coming through?
