BMW really cares about me...

Opened the hood with a hot engine today and this tiny message popped up for a few seconds:

OMG...what's next?
maybe these messages:
"don't let your fingers get crushed when closing the car doors"
"don't touch the exhaust tips because they could be hot"
"open the doors carefully to prevent dents or paint damage"

Just to name a few more obvious BMW "help messages"....LOL

My car asks me to take a break when it thinks I'm tired.

I'm more likely to have an accident when the audio warning frightens the shit out of me or trying to remove the message from the iDrive display.

Is this up there with the infamous (and perhaps urban myth) airline peanuts that said "Peanuts - Caution: contains nuts"

Way back in 1994 during a hot summer, I bought one of those shields you put in the front window to keep the sunlight out and inside temperature down. It came with a warning label telling me not to drive with it in place in the windshield as it may impact visibility while driving.

Cynically speaking, I've always thought that if you are that stupid you deserve to have something happen.

You know why in the US all car dash symbols related to anything safety.. i.e brakes, tire pressure etc, parking brake... have to be physically written out as opposed to a symbol? lol.. same thing, wheras in the EU, you can get the icon... it may be they standardized sense but that how it was on older bmw's

Not just EU...our neighbors to the north (Canada) gets symbols instead of text, too.

This is why it's so comical... ours need to be written out to make sure no is confused in any way

Here, people think the Check Engine symbol just means continue driving.

I suppose some owner, in the past, has actually sued or has attempted to sue because they weren't warned that engines get hot........to quote Forest Gump:
"Stupid is, as stupid does"

A mother successfully sued McDonald's in the US recently because the Chicken McNuggets were hot and burned her child. Imagine hot food, what next ????

There was a famous case in the US like 30 years ago with McDonalds and hot coffee. An elderly lady won a judgment against them worth millions.

I'm still waiting for my car's nav to tell me, "You can do that, but then you'll just end up in water!".
