2022 X3 M40i - tow wiring/electrical?
Hello all,
New to the form… 3rd BMW but it has been a long time. I am installing a Stealth Hitch and before splicing into the wiring, wanted to see if there is a more elegant solution. I’m finding mixed information online about the 2022 X3 M40i having “tow ready” wiring harness. I’m hoping this community may have some insight… While running wires I noticed this 8pin plug in the rear passenger side access panel (along with tons of other electronics). What is this? (Pic attached). Thank you! |

That's the BMW harness connection for trailer wiring.
You need the OEM harness and control module along with programing to use it. |

agree on buying the oem harness. I did the hidden hitch on my f25 x3 and the factory harness was the best decision. splicing into wires would have been a lot more work and not worth the effort for lesser capabilities.

Found this:
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...c/61126992412/ But no information on a control module. Local service center doesn't seem that helpful yet... waiting on a call back. |

You got them. Then it needs to be programed either by dealer or someone with Esys (Programing software)
