Watch for potholes!

Just hit a pothole on N Stemmons fwy in Dallas, at night, felt a huge shake and loud noise..warning messages, low pressure on tire. I was lucky to find an exit quick. Front left tire torn on one side. Open the vehicle status page, two tires with 0 psi. Both on the driver side. Both tires have tears ughhhhh, rims look ok though.
BMW assitance was fine, but 2 hours later still waiting for a tow truck. Nobtire insurance, only front left has it because had to replace it at around 5k miles and it came with a year of warranty. My luck!

With all the safety driven systems in the car, a system that can sweep the road to give warning on potholes. Did a google search and there are handful of research and patents on this. Perhaps a lower-tech on use of dashcam can be used for this.

Ha, in California a pothole warning system would be going off non-stop. Here in Silicon Valley some roads are so bad I just have to avoid certain major roads (ie. Wolfe Rd.). Some you literally can’t avoid them.

Wow, them rims are just very close to the street. I picked up a nail a few weeks back, was leap frogging from gas station to gas station to not go 0 PSI. I made it home (dealer closed), where I was able to put a temp rubber plug. Made it to the dealer next day--tire un-repairable anyway. $378 for a new one installed. No tire warranty.

Yeah, same thing happened to me before. Got the tire from BMW for that price and had a year of road hazard warranty. Now my two left tires have that warranty. If I get one tire issue I will go non run flats.

My next set of tire will be Non-RFT. I already have a spare tire I got aftermarket--enough with this RFT non-sense...at least for me.

I have the BMW tire warranty and it has been worth it for me. Ive already replaced both passenger side tires. The passenger front had a bubble on the inside sidewall and the passenger rear had a nail that was too close to a previous repair. I paid $100.00 to replace both ($50 deductible per incident). I have about 11k miles on the driver side tires. Ill be replacing them out of pocket soon.
