Also triggered, especially since it's now the 18th.

Another member watching and waiting . . .

I do find it all a bit odd. It's mid-June and I think that MY20s starting rolling off the line at the beginning of August - just 45 or so days away. The rest of the world doesn't care or think about the concept of model years. For them, it's just the next car off the line. But in the US and Canada, we order a specific model year vehicle and that must mean that BMWNA has not yet taken one order that will be produced after July. That's just odd to me.

Especially for one of the top/best selling units, x3. Hopefully the wait will be worth it with new features.

Not sure why you’d think that? I’m in Australia, and am very eagerly awaiting the changes for MY2020 before I order.

Of course! What I meant was that there's a focus on "model year" designations in North America. We place orders for cars of a specific MY. When the annual change-over occurs, many of us will wait a month or two for the "new" model even if there's no difference from one "year" to the next. On the used car market, an MY17 car is considered to be a year newer (and therefore have a greater value) than an identical MY16 car, regardless of whether the two cars were produced or purchased one month apart or 12 months apart.

My understanding is that (at least in Europe), the value equation is based more on when the car is produced, or when it is purchased, rather than the somewhat nebulas American MY designation.

Does Australia follow the American model or the European model?

Oh right! That’s interesting. It’s actually a bit of both here. For new cars, what year the car is delivered to the customer and registered for the road counts as the “year” of the car. So someone might wait to order a car for delivery in January, rather than December. The more astute buyers would also factor in the “American” MY for any added features, options or visual changes.

Not sure why it is not out yet. I am in Australia and we can already place order for it, new changes confirmed from the dealer as well. New engine, new dash etc, some package shift and price increase.

I wasn't aware that the ~380hp engine had been confirmed for the M40i models. That's great news!

Has the more HP been officially confirmed? No offense but I don't want to just take someone's word for it on an Internet forum.

Model Years do matter in Merica. They usually have slight changes to each model year, usually correcting some kind of issue in the previous MY's. Didn't the early 2018's not even have the M wheel? Also if you lease, the residuals can be higher at the beginning of the MY and slowly creep down towards the end of its cycle. Thats why when you sell your car a 20 will request more money then a 19 because its "Newer".

I'm also eager to see the changes for 2020 as my lease ends in November.
Why so secretive.

I believe I'm correct in saying that - in the US - the 2019 X3 M40i got the M steering wheel, but the X3 30i with MSport package did not. None of the 2019 X4s, including the X4 M40i, has the M steering wheel. It's one of the things that we're hoping is corrected for MY20.
