What M part(s) are direct fitments without too much fuss?

Why bother, right?

Or, is it.

Anyone thinking of opportunity to swap out for any OEM M part(s)?

eg.

wing mirrors?

Actually the rear bumper looks identical, just the diffuser is different.

What about the kidney grilles and front fender vents?

Side vents will definitely be fake. Also grilles will be difficult to retrofit as the doible slats won’t line up with the active grille shutters.

I would be more curious about suspension - springs, swaybars, EDC coding, etc.

I don't think that will actually matter that much. The shutters are far enough behind the grille that it won't impede any movement. I can't imagine BMW will have engineered a new shutter part just for the M - it's probably the stock part.

The M doesn't have shutters, and it has 6 pairs of slats compared to 7 slats on the other X3's so they definitely won't look right even if they do physically fit.

///M badges?

Seriously, I don't find it necessary to get any more ///M parts on my car. But if/when I do, I would rather swap the whole car instead of doing it in piecemeal.

I know the wing mirrors are one of those signature items people seem to want but I just don't see the appeal on the X3M. They just look out of place in that photo above.

My main desire from the X3M would be the seats but I think that would be a very costly swap out.

Not trying to be rude but am I the only one that thinks taking pieces from a model you don't have is a bit poser-ish?

Especially signature pieces like the wing mirrors, quad exhaust tips, etc. which are M only parts.

no, you're not the only one. keeping my m40i dna. normal mirrors, normal grille, normal badges, diffusers etc. I don't want any parts to match the new x3m. all I am doing is "murdering" it out with black pieces instead of cerium. I hate the cerium. I still don't believe they should call what we get "shadow trim" package if I don't actually get everything in black, just window trim (?). seems the new m models actually get everything in black. even my old 335i m sport with a shadow trim package actually had zero chrome whatsoever.

my only stylistic complaint is the cerium grey or whatever its called on this car. ugly.

I've always felt this way as well, especially being a former M3 owner. Seeing a normal 325i with M3 badges all over and fake quad tip bumper always hurt the soul a bit. Trying to aesthetically match an M model that isn't one just doesn't fit fell. I suppose small items like kidney grills or alike isn't bad but I guess who's to say where that line is.

Now, although maybe somewhat hypocritical I don't think taking some of the underpinnings such as swaybars, springs, etc. to enhance performance of the "M Sport" models is a bad thing. I mean if you can buy H&R or OEM M model springs for the same price and presumably getting better performance from an OEM quality part that's a no brainer.

As someone who inevitably mods all his cars, I see no problem with wanting to improve performance and styling by borrowing from the M cars. Sure the guy sporting a stock 3-series with the M colored grill fins and a cheap rebadging is a lame ass, but there are plenty of reasonable ways to take from the M cars without being "that guy".

My first sports car was an E36 325is and I upgraded it with a bunch of M parts from my friend's dad's M3 as he replaced his OEM stuff with aftermarket, and even went as far as replacing the front bumper because the M bumper looks 100% better on those older models. I'm sure M3 owners looked down on me for that, but ya know what? I don't care. I loved that car because I made it mine. I did not slap an m badge on the car though, that would have crossed the line!

I'm interested in the quad tips because my M40i tips are flaking and the quad tips look great. I will probably go aftermarket on this part though. I was also interested in the seats in case we could get some proper sport seats with ventilation, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case unfortunately.

I'm most interested in any suspension goodies that can improve handling. I was hopping the front strut brace would work for us but based on the different engine covers this is unlikely.

The tires are certainly on my list, but the X3M doesn't get to claim ownership there
