I think we might switch to white

We have a carbon black metallic / canberra beige X3 M40 on order with all the fixin's. My wife stopped by the dealer today with our daughter who is home from college and now they want alpine white. And keep the canberra beige interior. I don't really care. We've never owned a white car. We do own a black Z4 with the canberra beige interior and love it. Maybe the black and white cars would be a nice contrast.

Open for comments / criticism. I know it's personal preference so don't really see a downside.

Easy to maintain, improved heat rejection. I have white over beige on my 3 Series in a neighboring southwest state, and seeing all the white cars around, I think there is a good bit of wisdom about the usefulness of this combination in this climate.

White goes to the car wash because you cannot see the swirl marks. Black car is hand wash only which is annoying at times.

I initially ordered Sapphire Black over Fiona Red. My order was initially put into BMW's system that way. But the next morning, I saw a white X3, changed my mind and the switched the order to AW over Fiona. I haven't thought about it again. And this is the first time I've ordered a white car as well. I think white really looks right on the X3/4.

I love my AW X3 as it really looks good on the G01 body style. I would also highly recommend the Cognac leather interior.

I used to love black, but now I have an alpine white and I am so surprised how easy it is to keep clean. Black looks dirty after 2 days, while white will look fine for weeks.
Furthermore it does not absorb as much heat.
Looks awesome with the black m-sport trim.
I'm absolutely loving the AW!

Unless you like to hand wash your car with microfiber towels and non scratch mitts all year round and NEVER take it to a car wash do not get Black.

carbon black is the hardest color to keep clean. you will thank yourself immensely if you switch the color to alpine white.

I had a carbon black E46 M3, then a jerez black E92 M3. after that I switched to white on all my cars (mineral white if its available) and I just love it still to this day.

I always buy a real color - not a white or something along the grey-black continuum. But AW just looks right on these cars for some reason. I can't really explain it.

I'll be the one voice of reason (LOL).

I hate white as a color for a car - but it's almost the least maintenance (silver or champaign actually tend to be the absolute least maintenance for an exterior color), and it keeps the car cooler. Honestly, I wish I loved it for those reasons, but it just doesn't look good to me. I respect all who love it, though (my wife's Audi is white with a red interior, and on her, it looks amazing)

I love the blacked out look on white. But as DW was looking at one online, her comment was "I really like the look of the silver bits". Heart sunk.

I had Phytonic Blue on my previous 2018 M40i. Though I initially liked it, I didn't care for the way many times, depending on the light/sunlight, it didn't look good.
For the 2019 M40i, I went to Alpine White and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. No matter what the lighting conditions might be.

Same here. Mine’s Black sapphire, never again. I couldn’t have a white SUV though, so I’d go for silver next time round.
