M3/M4 to X3M? Who's with me?
Lease up in late April, which should line me up PERFECTLY to transition from my M4 Comp into an X3M.....
Feels like it will be such a fun spin on the M dynamic -- X5M always felt a little too big and over the top to me...

You're right about the X5M. Fantastic vehicle but it ended up being serious overkill for how we were using it. I just ordered a 4.0 to replace mine. The X3M should be incredible. Just big enough to handle any situation. My X4M40i lease is up in March. Perfect timing. The new one is butt ugly to my eyes. Can't wait.

Going from this to the X3M comp. when available! (keeping the M3 vert. for those perfect top-down days!)

Major props to the X3 M40i -- totally on board, totally think it's a steal at $60k and will be even better with 385hp next fall. But the X3M just feels like it's gonna be giddy dumb good fun -- shrieky M engine, crisp size and probably awesome handling.

My M3 is only 4 months old so not replacing it for awhile but I am considering replacing my X5M with the X3M in a year. The size will work better for us but I am concerned that the interior will be a step down. Looking forward to seeing the final product.

It has nothing to do with the price - if similarly optioned X3M and X5M were offered at the same MSRP, would still choose the X3M. We don't need (nor desire) the added size and weight. Would hope they would at least allow option of 'upgrading' fit and finish to BMW's M level top-shelf components and materials, regardless of model designation. |

My M4 interior materials certainly didn’t feel of a magnitude better than a stock 440i. M cars don’t have the feeling of an AMG which absolutely feels of a different class than non AMG models imho.

Merino is much better than Dakota leather. Also, if you opted for Full Merino leather (leather cross-stitched dash), it makes the interior look much better.

I agree. I have full SO Merino in my M3 and the car no doubt feels more high end. I won't have it any other way. Totally worth it IMO.

I took it out of dealer stock. Wasn’t my choice. Next time for sure.

I'm with you! haha turning in my civic M3 in August. Attempted to get on the X3M list at my dealer but they haven't started taking deposits (will probably go ZCP if available at initial release). Also considering X5 M50i or X5M.. I sat in a G05 40i the other day, while the exterior/interior design is incredible, I agree it just feels too big and would be a huge jump from my F80 (still need to drive one).

I am thinking this may be the wise man's choice.. I have driven an X3M30 but not the Xm40. I am also thinking that the straight line speed advantage is not worth it.... while it may get to point A and B quicker in the stop light derby... I don't see the X3 M40 as being anything near an M3 for sport touring or god forbid track driving. Quote:

When I opted to pick up my E84... I ended up with the Sdrive28 M sport rather than Xdrive35 because I wanted the RWD dynamics (as well as lower curb weight.. plus I am in TX) . 3 years later.. I haven't regretted that choice at all. I'm going to keep my eye on the X3M.... but I have a sports car in the 1M in the garage... so an X3 M30 M sport may be where I land. Would expect the X3M at 490 HP (Wt/HP ratio of 8.67) to be more on par with the Quadrifoglio (Wt/HP of 8.51), as the M40i isn't a fair fight since it's ratio is 12.16. If one is referring to handling and dynamics, then you'd almost have to compare the Stelvio Ti Sport with a ratio of 14.44 and 0-60 of 5.4s, which sits square between the M40i and the X3 30i (ratio of 16.8).
