Yes I do when I'm commuting in traffic, and yes it makes a difference. When I use it I avg mid 22mpg, when I only drive in sport I average in the 17s. Obviously driving style is a major part of that but I find it helps remind me to drive efficiently as well.

I had it on my 330d - but hardly used it as it made the engine quite "flat". In eco pro, this car could probably still out perform a lot of cars on the road! |

My m40i should be in transit to my dealer next few days. I actually plan to try EcoPro to see if it helps w/ mileage and if its still as fun to drive. One thing i did see in the sport/eco mode setup is you can turn on sport steering in eco pro. The M40i has 55 more HP than my 2011 35i that is more than enough for me, so i may just see how it works out. I can always switch to comfort and sport if needed.
On my 2011, before Eco pro existed, I use sport mode set for chassis/steering only - and when i want sport transmission I either use the shifter to the left sport mode or sport+ on the sport mode switch.

I use it on long drives when I am taking it easy and just trying to chill (like trips to visit my in-laws) . Put the active cruise control on, the self steering, mellow sounds on the sat radio.

I'm trying to offset the cost increase since I realized my local 76 station has VP Racing 100 octane at the pump... for the low price of $9.99/gal

Wow, I was just going to post a similar thread earlier this week, but never had the chance.
I have had mixed experiences with Eco Pro in my F25, so I decided to give it a try this past week with a full tank to see how much I would save. I personally don't seem to get enough of a gain with my mixed city/highway driving (more highway than city). At the end of my tank, my cluster said that I had gained about +10.1 miles (that's what the left part of the right dial is showing, right?) which to me isn't much worth it to me with the way Eco Pro has you drive. It just wasn't a terribly fun drive. I had to watch my acceleration constantly, and try to drift as much as possible. I think I drifted for about 50 miles.. and my engine went to "READY" mode a total of about almost 2 hrs. Anyway, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but 10.1 miles is not much of a change for me. I was guessing with being biased more toward highway roads, that I would gain more than that. However, it sounds like you folks are having a better time with it. I've since gone back to Comfort as my regular mode. |

My wife uses EcoPro mode but she hasn't done any comparisons with Comfort or Sport/Sport+ in city driving. But I have tried to do strict comparisons with as many of the variables as constant as possible in the Wheel weights and HWY performance thread - http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1440682 . Vehicle weight, constant speed at cruise control, pre-trip cold tire pressures, gas type and RON, relatively level Interstate roads and often the same routes run on multiple trips. Even with all of those parameters essentially stable, we're seeing large MPG differences from 23.6-29.0 MPG, thus far seemingly unrelated to Mode (even Sport +). The only major determinant so far has been the ambient temperature to explain differences.
Whether atmospheric temperature causes more oxygen to be available at lower temps so more fuel is consumed, and/or higher temperatures cause tires to not only increase in pressure but also internal temperature which may affect rubber's friction characteristics, or both - hard to tell at this point. And altitude will no doubt improve efficiency with less oxygen available so less fuel used. Gut feeling - EcoPro may help city driving, but at least so far with the few data points we have now, Mode seems to have little effect on MPG at constant HWY speeds. Radical thought which may be disproven as more data recorded. |

It would seem to be more effective in city driving provided you keep auto start/Stop enabled. My F25 is 2011 before auto start stop but I have driven other cars with it. We will see if I can live with that feature or turn it off

Just a guess but I would think Eco Pro mode would be a much better match with the M40i than then the i30 since it’s extra power 6 cylinder probably doesn’t bog down.. I feel the urge (i30) to go to sport mode more often and never use Eco Pro except at night sometimes to get an “all blue interior” when combined with thr ambient lighting LOL.

By the way, if you haven't noticed - the speedometer may only show up to 80 in Eco Pro mode, but if you drive above 80, the rest of the numbers will show up. |

Tried Eco Pro today in the M40i on INT 95 N along NH seacoast today doing 75-80.
Except for a "bit more power" the Eco Pro mode on the M40i is like driving a smaller version of my MB ML 350. No thanks...I drive in Comfort Adaptive and flick in and out of Sport and Manual with the shifter. Dam the M40i is quick ! |

I use Eco Pro in my current X5 when I'm really low on gas and hoping not to get stranded...
