Found chip on rear passenger door, where did it come from?
Hi Guys,
Yesterday brought the car through car wash and afterwards found a chip that looks like this on the rear passenger door. Advice on removing it please? I have already ordered the touch-up paint that matches my color. Has anyone had experience using that chip? Thank you. |

Bummer - looks like Phytonic?
Personally, if it's obvious, I'd get a professional touch up guy to do it. Probs about $100 but in my experience of touch up paints - not cool if in an obvious area. Unless you invest in micro applicator and magnifying glass :-) If you do touch up yourself, please do before / after :-) |

I have a few similar small chips as well that I thought about trying to repair myself.... I decided against doing it myself and I will eventually get a pro to do it. If anyone has any experience with DIY paint repairs I would love to hear and see their examples.

Knowing how to do it is quite different from having the skill to do it. First you need to clean the spot, then apply touch up paint up to the proper depth (quick dry after each coat). Once ready apply clearcoat to the top of it and dry completely. Then use rubbing compound and polish to finish/blend.

Obviously what happened is the guy left the car out in the rain. The paint softened. Neighbor dinged the door and chip happened next time the car got wet. Troll should at least change his name.
