BMS Catch can on F25 LCI X3
Yes I know N55s do not need catch cans nearly as much as N54s do. After I have seen sludge on the valves of other N55s that were 50k miles+, I decided a catch can would not hurt it.
This is a little DIY of how I made a bracket for my X3. Really was not hard to do since it was just one 90 degree bend. I did this in about an hour so I am sure if someone spent more time they could make it prettier. Link to catch can I bought: https://www.burgertuning.com/product...4ceb770f&_ss=r I started with buying a regular 12x12 sheet of aluminum from home depot and cut it into a 4x6in rectangle. After a little girding and re sizing to make it look pretty, I put a 90 degree bend to match up with the rail in the engine I used to mount. Drilled two holes for the T40 screws that attach to the rail in the engine bay and 4 screws to attach the physical catch can Test fitted the catch can to the bracket. Mount in car and run the oil lines! Any questions I would love to answer!

nice.
Even if its ''not needed'' as per internet, this mod is cheap enough and won't hurt anything. Having crank case fumes filtered before hitting the intake and intake valves is the way to got to extend carbon clean intervals. Also, I guess you wont have this issue, but in nordic countries, the catch can shall be installed lower to avoid p-trap in the lines. This will avoid ice and clogged lines. |
Appreciate
