Arrow Mudflaps installed

I recently purchased a 2011 35i and noticed allot of dirt on the side of the vehicle behind both the front and rear wheels. I decided to try the OEM mudflaps and they have kept the sides of the vehicle much cleaner.

Before purchasing them, I read allot of negative comments about them pulling away from the body after they were installed. I decided to buy them anyway since I had some ideas to reduce the pulling away. There are several fasteners to attach them. There's also double sided tape to sick them to the black body trim and this is what is failing and pulling away for many people.

Since people use vinyl protectant on the black trim, this will prevent the tape from sticking very well. I got the vehicle use so I don't know what kind of protectant was used. I cleaned the black body trim with alcohol wipes where the double sided tape will stick. I used ~5 wipes and a rag per wheel trim.

Next up is to activate the double sided tape. I use a heat gun on the body trim, the mudflap and tape. This also softened the mudflap to allow it to conform to the body trim better. Once stuck and cooled, the fit was spot on. i highly recommend not installing them in cold weather, it was in the 80s when I did the install.

They've been on for a few months in 90 degree weather and so far so good. The real test will be how well they make it through the winter.
