Cool Which M-Performance Steering Wheel Fits?

Does anyone know which M-Performance fits the 21 F97? It looks like the M5 LCI wheel should fit or even the G80 wheel if I buy the G80 trim pieces. My only concern is with the airbag, looks like it should work but want to confirm before spending $$$.

You can't use an LCI wheel because you don't have driver assistance professional. Use the F97 M Performance steering wheel. There's one specifically for your car. Comes with the trim piece too.

Couldn't find anything listed and looking through some old posts, the F97 wheel with the red ring has the old style buttons.

Steering wheel and trim does not come as a package. You usually buy them separately.

Different options for trims depending if you have heated steering or not.

Best way would be to look for new F80 M3/M4 trim since they do have new button display

I would be also looking for a carbon trim when my X3 M40 comes.

I think you mean G80 and that trim has different clips and fasteners. In addition, the upper portion of the trim has a slightly different shape.

I drive 6 trim on top versus idrive 7 trim on bottom. Same wheel.

I'll have to see if there's any updated part for the F97 now. For X3 M40i you buy the M Performance wheel and the trim separate. The F97 wheel (for idrive 6 at least) came with the trim piece included with the wheel. Let me check if a 2021 X3 M part number is the same as a 2019 (I drive 7 versus I drive 6)

The F97 m performance wheel has a blue stripe not a red stripe. The f97 wheel also has tri color stitch. The red stripe wheel has white stitching.

The idrive 6 version (model year 2020) is part number 32 30 2 463 551

The idrive 7 version (model year 2021 with newer style steering wheel buttons) is part number 32 30 2 463 552

No luck searching for 32302463552. Do you know if driving assistant functionality is available with these wheels?

Thanks for all the info.

Does it matter for the trim if the wheel has M1/M2 buttons or not?

Would you have the part number for the trim I Drive 7 with carbon/leather instead of carbon/alcantara?

The part number i gave you is in ETK. You likely won't be able to see photos of it unless you order it from a dealer and look at it yourself. No it is not because Alcantara wheels do not have the touch detection sensor. You will only not be able to use the driver assistance plus function. You can still use active cruise control though

You know that I can help you, right? lol.

What do you want to do?

Give me something that's more specific.

Do you know if the carbon trim on the G80 M3C with the little slot in the middle would be compatible with X3 M40 LCI? Not looking to replace the entire M performance wheel because would delete the driver’s assistance pkg but only to replace trim

Thanks for your help

As far as I know, it won't.
Airbag is different shape and mounting point is different.

The closest one to that would be AutoTecknic's version that's where BMW get the idea and copy it from.

Any suggestions to how to get one for the X3 M40 would be nice

That is AutoTecknic one.

The difference is on the back of the airbag.
Front is the same looks, size, and dimension.

PM me your VIN and I'll check tomorrow.

Will the factory carbon/leather wheel trim from the new M3/M4 fit a 2020 X3M? I'd prefer the carbon/leather look to the carbon/alcantara on the Autotecknic

No it won't fit. I have the trim piece you're describing from BMW but it doesn't have the opening like the stock piece.

Yes, the M Performance one. But that one doesn't have the cutout below the steering wheel heater button like the one on the new M3/M4.

AutoTecknic is your only option.
BMW copied AutoTecknic's design and slapped an M badge on it. Lol.

Only fit if you change the airbag too.
