Maybe going off on a tangent here - I think BMW doesn't lie on the HP rating but rather testing it differently and then either round the number off, do an average, prime +1, etc. I haven't seen they publicly said it's crank but would like to see if they really did say somewhere or disclosed testing methodologies.
That said, carry on |

Hi team,
I'm going to stay out of all the political crapola and give some feedback as I was tagged earlier. I have the 22' and DME sent to FEMTO. I have a separate thread about the car (haven't updated though, apologies from me) I have a 22 M40i, AA catted dump, catch can and just a panel air filter running 98 octane. (93 in your world as I am in Australia) Custom tune is always worth it if available. There was a substantial difference in BM3 stage 2 and my custom. Mid-range and drivability were the big winners of custom as BM3 runs 18psi and my tune was 21psi. Octane was limiting factor. Low grade fuel here even though 93/98. Ill see if I can attach dyno sheet. BM3 is still a great tune for an OTS but released for the masses. All power at wheels 227kw standard 232kw dump pipe - PINK 291kw bm3 S2 - GREEN 297kw custom (the mid-range difference was night and day) - RED I have recently installed a pure800. I love it. Has changed driving characteristics as moved power band about 500rpm but once you get used to it, I love it. Smoother power application and boy, does it pull. Feel like it would keep building forever. 335kw Pure800 (installed cooler NGK plugs) I am away so can't post graph. My GEN2 Flex kit from BM3 failed on install and some parts are headed our way so was not able to tune different mixes of E85. With the power it is making should be able to go to 50% mix before maxing fuel system out. Also, mindful that power and torque is getting up there and don't want to break stuff even though I have a rear LSD diff that's on the way out. Should see 360-370kw with some E85. Did I mention I love this engine! Cheers |

I don’t subscribe to the whole dyno debate as there are just too many variables. What is important for me is the delta on that particular dyno. My situation was 70wkw difference on standard turbo, which when you think about it is damn phenomenal.
285kw (382hp) standard and 227wkw is about 20% drivetrain loss on this dyno. My tuner indicted that drivetrain loss amplifies the more the power increases, so who knows. He is looking into a hub dyno |
