BootMod3 Satisfaction

Hi All - I'm sure this has been posted a zillion times, so I apologize. Just wanted to gauge how many people have done the Bootmod3 tune to their X3M/X4M. I lease my X4M, so obviously I'm a little nervous about that, but the head service guy at my local dealer said he doesn't have a problem with it.

Anything to know prior to ordering?

Thanks in Advance!!

Just added BM3. As a non-comp owner I've been on the stage 0+ competition calibration and it's been awesome. Smooth like factory settings. Will go to stage 1 next.

Had it but switched, was decent but as others have experienced need better fuel to run intended tune. Maybe they have changed that in later revision.

This is called extra pre-cautions that Bootmod3 offers as a proper platform
You see they're able to get folks to datalog their cars and recommend "Hey your octane is bad its knocking so on"

Others are not able to do this or just increase knock-sensors so you just run a more aggressive tune but bad news will come.

OP..

Have it and super happy, you will love it!

No issues either

PM me, I don't want to clutter the OP on making it a tuner vs. tuner discussion.

I have a BM3 and enjoy the extra power. My only complaint is that the throttle is very tough to modulate when the boost picks up at 3000-3500 rpm. It actually hits a little too hard...

I had it for exactly 1 week and so far enjoying it. You still feel the initial lag but it is much improved compared to stock. The fun really happens above 3k rpm and the in gear acceleration.

Asking for a friend, but what do you folks do for warranty and maintenance work? I've always run piggybacks, so could always just take them down when I brought the cars in, plus my dealer has always been "tune friendly", and never complained. Just flash back to stock? How have your dealers been about it? I keep telling him to flash back and it's no big deal, but he's worried, even for basic stuff.

If you're bringing your car to the dealer you for any kind of complaints you should check faults and see if any faults would need to have a vehicle test done with ISTA. For example any CEL or electrical issue really will get a vehicle test and the suspicion of engine tuning screen will come up during the vehicle test and technically at that point it's logged on that session. Basic things like a rattle or something should be fine, you could perhaps talk to your service writer and state to tell the tech not to do a vehicle test and just fix the rattles. Depending on what's done you should clear faults with a competent scan tool.

There's no way around the system anymore even if you flash back to stock.

You need to find a friendly dealership or nice indy shop.
