Buy a 2020 BMW and you (and guest) get to go to a BMW track event

Have any of you received this email? I didn't but my wife did

If you bought/leased any new 2020 BMW, you receive a complimentary track event. It's a 3 hour (1hr class 2hr track) course. It's not an M track day but closer to their performance driving course

This even applies to cars purchased before the announcement as long as it is a 2020 model purchased in 2020. These are being held at courses in SC and CA

Yes. Going Friday for our (half) day. This will be our third time to the center for some type of class/delivery. My wife looks forward to these as much as I do.

It is nice. SC track is about two hours from us, so an easy drive thru the mountains to Greer.

Where is the track located in Cali? I purchased back in June and wondering how do I possibly get hooked up for this. Should I contact my salesman I bought car from? thx for any help.

It's down in Thermal, near Palm Springs. https://bmwperformancecenter.com/locations

Guess BMW is cutting corners.
When I got my 2019 M40i, BMW gave me a 1-Day M School which included a great lunch with 2 nights of accommodations at the J. W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort near the Thermal, CA BMW Performance Center track. They also included two days of breakfast from their nicest restaurant (J.W. Marriott) on site for two. Great experience.

I thought buying a full M vehicle would include that also.

Call the number. They will take your VIN and let you select a day. You can look on the tracks calendar for the days they are offering New Owner day. This seems to be in place of Perf Center delivery.

I'm hoping that Thermal is an available option for west coasters, I was there a couple of years ago and enjoyed it a lot. I was lucky enough to get some good track time too

This 2020 purchase offer might not include the ///M offering, but it should still be a fun and worthwhile experience.

So, there's this package available on new purchases that's called "M-Drivers Package" and it includes taking your vehicle on their course in Spartenburg. When you select this option, it removes the panoramic sunroof from your car. Does the "track day" also get away from a panoramic sunroof?

I've been to the track but on a K1200GT, not the X3. Never thought about it with the X3 (but should have) but with the GT, there is no sunroof. No roof at all for that matter.

From what I could tell, you are basically buying the 1 day M Day driver’s course. In addition to losing the roof, it also bumps up the top speed limiter from something I read.

The track day that is being offered free is more of a get to know a car like you purchased and how it handles. Great teaser to get you to a paid full training day or more. Of course to me, any day on a track in a car is fun. Glad my wife thinks the same way. I told her about the offer and she shot back, “So when are we going? I am ready to go again.”

BobsM3Coupe - we've purchased 14 BMWs over the years and have never been offered the 1 Day M School. And not on either of our G01 X3M40i models. Your complimentary package was easily worth $3K if you attended the formal M class I would think, so maybe your Dealer, or Gen Mgr, or your connections/affiliations made that possible?

The sole reason I ordered my X3MC with the M Driver's Pkg was so I could remove the heavy moon roof which we will never use. With that came the full day M School - and if you haven't done the formal version of this class, I highly recommend it. Every single time I get in my X3MC, all of the subtle driving nuances taught and learned through high-speed repetition instantly reloads in my mind. But to clarify, you are not allowed to take 'your vehicle' on their course - you use the M2C for short course, M4 for skid pad, and M5C for long course (at least my full M Day course back in late 2019).

Don't see how the three hour complimentary offering here will provide what one needs to fully understand the dynamics of M, but it might urge folks to pursue further training. I actually would like to see M School offer a specific full day for F97/98 models, sans the moon roof of course. From a safety perspective, the higher CG (whatever that value may be) would be fascinating to experience in the short course slalom, the skid pad, and the long course.

Highly recommend M Drivers at least taking the full M School. If/when COVID allows, might consider the two day myself, but from a practical standpoint - another full M Day with just the F97/98 models would make a lot more sense.

How much?

BTW I got the slick top with no Driving school. It can be ordered that way . Of course no higher top speed.

What dealer gave this away ? I suspect it was the dealer. I few years back McKenna hired a tour bus and drove its best costumers out to Thermal for an entire day event and gave us a BMW duffle bag full have swag, hat pen , keychains, easily worth 3 hundred alone a dealer swag prices. ( it was not the cheap swag)
